MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL WORK SESSION <br /> OF THE EDINA CITY COUNCIL <br /> HELD AT CITY HALL <br /> JANUARY 16, 2007 <br /> 5:00 P.M. <br /> ROLLCALL Answering rollcall were Members Bennett, Masica, Swenson, and Mayor <br /> Hovland. <br /> Mayor Hovland welcomed Sen. Geoff Michel, Rep. Ron Erhardt, and Rep. Neil Peterson to <br /> the work session. He stated the purpose of the work session was to allow the Council and <br /> Edina's legislative contingent to discuss important issues facing both cities and the State. <br /> Each legislator briefed the Council on their committee assignments. It was noted that the <br /> State of the State and Governor's Budget for the next biennium was scheduled to be released <br /> shortly. The legislators said they believed the new leadership was inclined to work together <br /> to accomplish something in the upcoming session. Priorities mentioned included Health and <br /> Human Services, Education-both K-12 and Higher, Property Taxes and Transportation. <br /> The City Council and staff mentioned Wine in Grocery Stores, Market Value Homestead <br /> Credit, questioned whether any potential for levy limits existed, asked about Transportation <br /> and proposals for the States' budget surplus. <br /> Mayor Hovland declared the meeting adjourned at 6:40 p. m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Debra A.
