Recycle Basins for Treatment Plants 2, 3, & 4, Contract No. PW-06-1, <br /> Improvement Nos., WM-425, 426 and 427; and Agenda Item III.L. Pumping Facility Maintenance - <br /> Well No. 17, Contract No. PW 06-2, Improvement No.WM457. <br /> Rollcall: <br /> Ayes: Housh, Hulbert, Masica, Hovland <br /> Motion carried. <br /> *MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 17, 2006; SPECIAL MEETING OF <br /> JANUARY 17, 2006, AND COUNCIL, PLANNING, AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION <br /> WORK SESSION OF JANUARY 21, 2006, APPROVED Motion made by Member Masica and <br /> seconded by Member Housh approving the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Edina City <br /> Council for January 17, 2006, Special Meeting of January 17, 2006, and Council, Planning, and <br /> Transportation Commission Work Session of January 21,2006. <br /> Motion carried on rollcall vote-four ayes. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2006-18 - RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION - MARK RITTER Mayor <br /> Hovland expressed appreciation to Mark Ritter for his plan that engaged the City, the Minnesota <br /> Department of Transportation, and a local nursery to beautify the roadside at Minnesota Highway 62 <br /> and Tracy Avenue with plants and to maintain the landscaping at his personal expense. <br /> Member Masica made a motion adopting the following resolution: <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2006-18 <br /> WHEREAS, Mark Ritter desired to plant more trees and other woody plants along the <br /> roadside at Minnesota Highway 62 and Tracy Avenue;and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Ritter drew a plan, engaged with City of Edina in a cooperative agreement <br /> with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, lined up the stock with a nursery supplier, and <br /> agreed to plant and maintain all of the plant materials at his own expense;and <br /> WHEREAS, the trees and shrubs planted in 1999, 2000 and 2005 as a result of this <br /> collaborative effort provide many benefits for adjacent residents and motorists; including <br /> screening the view and deadening the sounds of thousands of cars passing by daily, trapping dust <br /> and other air pollutants, providing songbird habitat and providing an attractive roadside area for <br /> travelers;and <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture recently named Mr. Ritter the winner <br /> of its 2005 Volunteer Service Award for his work on the project. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Edina City Council, City staff and all <br /> Edina residents hereby express their thanks and appreciation to <br /> MARK RITTER <br /> for his work to beautify and improve the City of Edina. <br /> Dated this 7th day of February 2006.
