MINUTES OF SPECIAL COUNCIL. MEETING <br />HELD WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 1975 <br />10:15 P.M. <br />IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BOARD OF REVIEW MEETING <br />Council met in special session imnediately following Board of Review Meeting. <br />Answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney and Richards and Mayor Van Valken- <br />burg. <br />COUNCILYA RICHARDS APPOINTED TO HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY. <br />Van Valkenburg offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />Mayor <br />.> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPOINTNENT OF <br />AUTHORITY OF EDINA, MINNESOTA <br />' FREDERICK S. RIG-S TO THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPNENT <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Edina, Minnesota, that the appointment by <br />the Hayor of Edina, Minnesota, of Frederick S.. Richards to serve as Commissioner <br />of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Edina, Minnesota, for the remainder <br />of a five year term which began on April 1, 1975, as set forth in the Certificate <br />of Appointment dated June 18, 1975, be and the same is hereby approved. <br />Notion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Councilman Courtney and on <br />rollcall there were three ayes and no nays and the resolution was adopted. <br />The Mayor then declared the special meeting adjourned at 10:17 P.M. <br />V City Clerk <br />f. <br />.. <br />MINUTES OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br />' HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 1975, <br />IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BOARD OF REVIEW mETING <br />10:20 P.M. <br />Council met in special session immediately following Board of Review Meeting. <br />Answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney, Richards, Shaw, Councilwoman Schmidt <br />and Mayor Van Valkenburg. <br />PARAMEDIC PROGRAM AND PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AUTHORIZED. <br />attention to a memorandum from Fire Chief Robert Buresh advising that the Edina <br />Fire Department could be certified to become operational with its Paramedic <br />Program by August I, 1975. Council was reminded that at present the Fire Depart- <br />ment is operating a rescue squad unit using firefighters who have been trained <br />in all phases of fire department rescue squad prccedures, automobile extrication, <br />the advanced American Red Cross course, and the Emergency Medical Technician <br />training. Mr. Hyde recommended that, if the program is approved, that a21 <br />patrolmen be trained to the level of emergency medical technicians, which train- <br />ing Hennepin County General Hospital will provide at no charge. <br />by lfr, Hyde, COUNCILMAN SHAW'S MOTION approving the Paramedic Program and author- <br />izing the expenditure of $4,231.55 for a Lifepak 4 Unit, and for an additional <br />$3,173.00 for miscellaneous equipment was seconded by Councilman Richards and <br />carried. <br />to $2,500 per year for drugs, miscellaneous supplies and the replacement of <br />equipment, and that the City will be receiving approximately $8,000 to $9,000 <br />worth of radio equipnignt at no cost which will be donated through the Robert <br />Wood Johnson Foundation. <br />Mr. Hyde called Council's <br />As recommended <br />It was pointed out that reoccurring costs will be approximatel-y $2,000 <br />' <br />SPECIAL ELECTION QUESTIONS TO BE DETERMINED ON JULY 7, 1975. Mayor Van Valken- <br />burg advised Council that he has asked Mr. Jack Rice and Pfr. Vincent McConville <br />to work out the questions to be on the ballot for the Special Election to be held <br />on September 4, 1975., so that they can be presented for Council approval on <br />July 7, 1975. <br />The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 10:35 p.m.
