MINUTES <br /> OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br /> EDINA CITY COUNCIL <br /> HELD AT CITY HALL <br /> AUGUST 21,2007 <br /> 7:00 P.M. <br /> ROLLCALL Answering rollcall were Members Bennett, Housh, Masica, Swenson and Mayor <br /> Hovland. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS APPROVED Motion made by Member Masica and seconded by <br /> Member Housh approving the Council Consent Agenda as presented. <br /> Rollcall: <br /> Ayes: Bennett, Housh, Masica, Swenson, Hovland <br /> Motion carried. <br /> RAVEN SCULPTER,BRIAN YOUNG RECOGNIZED Dick Crockett, Executive Director, Edina <br /> Community Foundation and Edina Public Art Committee member explained the sculpture The <br /> Raven had been displayed outside at Grandview Square Park for about a year. He said the Public <br /> Art Committee was fortunate to be able to secure the sculpture for permanent display at Edina <br /> City Hall. Mr. Crockett said the beautiful sculpture was enhanced by the wonderful display <br /> stand crafted by Edina Public Works employee James Peluf. Mr. Crockett introduced Brian <br /> Young who briefly described his sculpture stating he got the inspiration for the sculpture while <br /> in the Minnesota Boundary Waters. Mr. Young said the sculpture was carved by hand from a 500 <br /> pound block of black marble. The Mayor and Council thanked Mr. Crockett and Mr. Young for <br /> the public art contribution to the City of Edina. <br /> CONSTITUTION WEEK PROCLAIMED - SEPTEMBER 17-23, 2007 Mayor Hovland <br /> proclaimed September 17- 3, 2007, as Constitution Week in the City of Edina and urged citizens <br /> to study the Constitution and reflect on the privilege of being an American. <br /> Member Bennett made a motion proclaiming September 17-23, 2007, as Constitution Week in <br /> the City of Edina. Member Swenson seconded the motion. Mayor Hovland presented the <br /> proclamation to former City Clerk Florence Norback. <br /> Ayes: Bennett, Housh, Masica, Swenson, Hovland <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 'MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF AUGUST 21, 2007AND WORK SESSION OF <br /> AUGUST 7, 2007 APPROVED Motion made by Member Masica and seconded by Member <br /> Housh approving as presented the minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 7, 2007, and the <br /> work session of August 7, 2007. <br /> Motion carried on rollcall vote - five ayes. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Joe Witt, 5604 Dalrymple Road, expressed the concerns over his neighborhood being overrun <br /> with parked cars from persons attending sporting events and classes at the Edina Community <br /> Center and Southview Middle School. He said it was not a problem during the summer, but as <br /> soon as school starts the neighborhood will be inundated with parked cars. <br /> Page 1 <br />
