MINUTES <br /> OF THE WORK SESSION OF THE <br /> EDINA CITY COUNCIL AND <br /> EDINA ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT COMMISSION <br /> HELD AT CITY HALL <br /> JUNE 16, 2009 <br /> 5:00 P.M. <br /> Mayor Hovland called the meeting to order at 5:20 p.m. in the Community Room of City Hall. <br /> Answering rollcall were: Members Bennett, Housh, Brindle and Mayor Hovland. Absent was <br /> Member Swenson. Edina Energy & Environment Commissioners present were: Commissioners <br /> Christianson, Hanson, lyer, O'Connell, Paterlini, Risser, Sierks and Thompson. Absent were <br /> Commissioners Latham and Lee. Staff present included: Gordon Hughes, City Manager; Heather <br /> Worthington, Assistant City Manager; Ceil Smith, Assistant to the City Manager and Debra <br /> Mangen, City Clerk. <br /> Mayor Hovland said the meeting was an opportunity to explore issues of mutual concern between <br /> the Commission and the Council. Reports were received from each of the four working groups: <br /> Water Quality, Recycling/Solid Waste, Education & Outreach and Climate Change. Chair lyer <br /> reviewed the Commission's goals and key accomplishments for the last six to twelve months. <br /> Commissioners indicated a desire to be part of the process of updating the Edina's zoning <br /> regulations, suggested the development of a City of Edina "Green Team", offered ways to engage <br /> local businesses in meaningful ways assisting them to change practices reducing Edina's carbon <br /> footprint, expressed the desire to engage the community as a whole and presented ideas for <br /> educating the public on energy and environmental concerns. <br /> The August 18, 2009, 7:30 p.m. "Our Clean Energy Future," an Edina dialogue program featuring <br /> Bill McKibben and Will Steger in the Leo Fick Auditorium of the Edina High School was noted. <br /> Preceding the dialogue program there will be a Clean Energy Resource Fair at 5:30 p.m. <br /> Mayor Hovland declared the meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> 46, AMA <br /> De a rVl ngen, City C erk <br /> Minutes approved by Edina City Council, July 7, 2009. <br /> James Hovland, Mayor <br /> Page 1 <br />
