MINUTES OF THE REGULAR <br />EDINA- VILLAGE .COUNCIL HELD <br />MEETING OF THE <br />AT nLLAGE HALL ON <br />. - - MONDAY, -AbGU$T 18, .1969 <br />. 4:OO P,M. <br />Members answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney, Shaw,TVanValkenburg and <br />Mayor Bredesen. <br />MINUTES of July 21, 1969, were approved as amended to show that the Annual <br />Audit had been submitted to Council; Minutes of August 5, 1969, were approved <br />as submitted by motion of Councilman Shaw, Seconded by Councilman VanValkenburg <br />and carried. <br />POLICE SERGEANT ROBERT CHRISTY RECOGNIZED UPON RETIREMENT. <br />introduced Police Sergeant Robert Christy and expressed regret at the retire- <br />ment.of this dedicated Police Officer who has been with the Edina Police Depart- <br />ment since 1951, Mr, Hyde added that Sergeant Christy has done a great deal in <br />developing the Bicycle Safety Program and the School Patrols and wished him the <br />best of luck on behalf of the entire Council and staff, <br />Mayor Bredesen <br />STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENT ST.S-120 APPROVED. <br />project cost at $16,995.66, $11,093.01 of which is proposed to be paid by bo-4 State Aid Funds, <br />c19 284,352 assessable square feet at an estimated cost of $0.0186 per square foot. <br />He recalled that this project had been continued from August 4, 1969, inasmuch u3 <br />as fourLfifths favorable vote had been necessary for approval and only three 03 i-1 63 Councilmen had been present at that meeting, It was further noted that no <br />objections had been presented to the improvement: at the previous hearing. <br />'reply to an unidentified gentleman in the audience, Mr. Dunn reviewed the <br />tabulation of bids received for the project and advised that if the contract <br />is awarded, the improvement could be completed this fall. No further comments <br />being heard, Councilman VanValkenburg offered the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Edina Village Council that this Council heretofore <br />caused notice of hearing to be duly published and mailed to owners of each <br />parcel within the area proposed to be assessed on the following proposed improve- <br />ment : <br />Mr. Hyde presented total estimated <br />The balance of $5,302.65 is proposed to be assessed against <br />In <br />- RESOLUTION ORDERING STORM SEWER 120 <br />CONSTRUCZION OF STORM SEWER AND APPURTENANCES IN THE FOLLOWING: <br />Hansen Road from South line of Lot 2, Block 1, E. V. Klopp's Subdivision <br />to 440 feet North <br />Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern. Railroad right-of-way to Hansen <br />Road <br />Easement line between Lots 2 and 3, Block 1, E. V. Klopp's Subdivision from <br />and at the hearing be5d .at:the time and place specified in said notice, the <br />Council has duly considered the views of all persons interested, and being <br />fully advised of the pertinent facts does hereby determine to proceed with the <br />construction of said improvement including all procee'dings which may be neces- <br />sary in eminent domain for the acquisition of necessary easements and rights <br />for construction and maintenance of such improvement; that said improvement is <br />hereby designated and shall be referred to in all subsequent proceedings as <br />STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENT 120; and the area to be specially assessed therefor <br />shall include Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 1, E. V.
