MINUTES OF THE CONTINUED MEETING OF <br />JULY 20, 1970, HELD AT VILLAGE HALL ON <br />FRIDAY, JULY 24, 1970 <br />Continued Meeting of the Regular Meeting of July 20, 1970, was convened at <br />4:30 p.m. immediately following the 3:30 Board of Appeals Meeting. <br />Members andwering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney, Shaw, VanValkenburg and <br />Mayor Bredesen. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 261-206 GRANTED SECOND READING. Mr. Hoisington recalled that <br />Ordinance No. 261-206 had been continued from the meeting of JuJy 20, 1970, so <br />that Council would have an opportunity to read the ordinance, whereupon <br />Councilman VanValkenburg offered Ordinance 261-206 for Second Reading and <br />moved its adoption as follows: <br />ORDINANCE NO. 261-206 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 261 <br />(ZONING ORDINANCE) OF THE VILLAGE OF EDINA <br />ADDING CHILD CARE CENTERS TO THE LIST OF PERMITTED <br />USES IN THE R-3 MULTIPLE RESIDENCE DISTRICT <br />THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF EDINA, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS: <br />2 of Section 4 (Multiple Residence District) of Ordinance 261 of the Village <br />of Edina is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Section 1. Subparagraph (a) (Principal Uses, District R-3) of Paragraph <br />(a) Principal Uses <br />District R- 3 : <br />(1) <br />(2) Child Day Care Centers <br />Residences containing not less than three nor more than twelve <br />dwelling units <br />Section 2. Paragraph 7 (Parking) of Section 4 (Multiple Residence District) <br />of Ordinance 261 of the Village of Edina is hereby amended by adding the follow- <br />ing subparagraph.: <br />$'In addition to the above requirements, Child Day Care Centers shall have <br />one on-site parking space for each employee and teacher." <br />Section 31 <br />''Child Day Care Centersd" - Any facility that regularly provides care for <br />six or more children for all or part of a day including nursery schools <br />and day nurseries. <br />Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and <br />Section 11 (Definitions) of Ordinance 261 is hereby amended <br />by adding to the list of definitions, the following: <br />after its passage and publication according to law. <br />Motion for adoption of the resolution was <br />rollcall there were four ayes and no <br />ATTEST : <br />man Shaw and on <br />Mayor / <br />NEW LIBRARY BUILDING CONTINUED until the ruling is received from the Attorney <br />General as to the power of the County to assess,Edina property for the County <br />Library if Edina establishes i.ts own public library. <br />VanValkenburg was seconded by Councilman Shaw and carried. <br />Motion of Councilman <br />GORDON V. JOHNSON APPOINTED TO PLANNING COMMISSION TO SUCCEED GEORGE NUGENT. <br />Councilman Shaw's motion confirming the appointment of Mr. Gordon V. Johnson <br />to succeed Mr. George Nugent to the Planning Commission was seconded by Council- <br />man VanValkenburg and carried. <br />PATRICK TURNBULL APPOINTED TO PARK BOARD. <br />the appointment of Mr. Patrick Turnbull to replace.Elr, Dick, Enr'oth was sec- <br />onded by Councilman VanValkenburg and carried. <br />BOARD OF APPEALS MEMBER TO BE NOMINATED BY PLANNING COMMISSION. Councilman <br />VanValkenburg's motion that the Elanning Commission nominate one of its members <br />to replace Mr. George Nugent on the Board of Appeals was seconded by Councilman <br />Shaw and carried. <br />r" -. <br />Councilman Shaw's motion confirming I <br />P.E.R.A. "BUY-BACK" STATUS REPORT was made by Mr. Hyde who advised that only <br />Mr. Woehler and Captain :He$feld *. had decided to participate. <br />TREE REMOVAL AT .INTERSECTION OF T.H. 100 AND I?. 50TH STREET DISCUSSED. Mr. <br />Hyde noted the removal of trees on the Southeast corner of T.H. 100 and 14. <br />*
