1, $5 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULARMEETING OF THE <br />EDINA VILLAGE COUNCIL HELD AT VILLAGE HALL ON ' <br />MONDAY, MAY 17, 1971 <br />Members answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney, Johnson, Shaw, VanValken- <br />burg and Mayor Bredesen. <br />MINUTES of May 3, 1971, were approved as submitted by motion of Councilman <br />VanValkenburg, seconded by Councilman Johnson and aarried. <br />MINNESOTA SAFETY COUNCIL AWARD PRESENTED. <br />receipt of the Minnesota Safety Council Award which was presented to the Village <br />of Edina in recognition of outstanding accident prevention performance in traffic <br />'safety education, enforcement and engineering. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS CONDUCTED ON NUMEROUS IMPROVEMENTS. Affidavits of Notice were <br />presented by Clerk, approved as to form and ordered placed on file. Pursuant <br />to due notice given, 'public hearings were conducted and action taken ~ as here- <br />inafter recorded. <br />Mr. Hyde advised Council. of the <br />A. Mr. Richard Reece, 4601 Browndale Ave., also expressed concern <br />about the trees as did Mr. George Adamovich, 4610 Bruce Ave. Mr. Edward M. <br />Denn, 4615 Edina Blvd., ufged that the advice of the horticulturist be followed. <br />Mayor Bredesen pointed out that many residents felt that, because of the <br />deterioration of curbs in the area, repair should be done before that time. <br />In view of the age of existing trees,'Mayor Bredesen suggested planting new <br />boulevard trees so that they would have a chance to grow before something - <br />happens to the original trees. <br />minutes of September 21, 1970, and reiterated that 'Council is deeply' concerned <br />with saving the boulevard trees. He added <br />that, .under the assessment policy, the remaining two-thirds of the side yard <br />footage would be added to the-entire project.
