306 <br />MINUTES OF THF, SPECIAL EEETING OF THE <br />EDZNA VILLAGE COUNC2L kern AT '€&3 VZmGE &IT.& <br />WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 29, 197.1 <br />4:OO P.M. <br />Members answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney, Shaw, VanValkenburg and <br />Mayor Bredesen. <br />STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED EXPENDITURES AND RECOIiMENDED TRANSFERS FOR YEAR ENDING <br />DECENBER 31, 1971, APPROVED. Mr. Dalen presented Statement of Estimated . <br />Expenditures and Recommended Transfers for Year Ending December 31, 1971, which <br />statement ~7as reviewed by Council. Discussion ensued as to whether it is legal <br />to deposit public funds of the Village in a savings and loan association. Mr. <br />Dalen will check into the matter. <br />offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Statement of Estimated Expenditures and Recommended <br />Transfers for the year ending December 31, 1971, be approved as submitted by the <br />Village Treasurer. <br />Motion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Councilman Van Valkenburg <br />and on rollcall there were four ayes and no nays and the resolution was adopted, <br />POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SALARIES AND WAGES STILL UNDER NEGOTIATION. Mr. Hyde <br />advised Council that as yet neither the Police Department or the Fire Department <br />have accepted the schedule of salaries and wages offered by the Village. <br />action was taken. 1 <br />I <br />Following some discussion, Councilman Shaw <br />RES OLUTION <br />No <br />EDINA JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING DATE NOTED. <br />called to a meeting sponsored by the Edina Junior Chamber of Commerce to be <br />held on January 11, 1972, at 5:30 at the Radisson South. Edina, Bloomington <br />and St. Louis Park officials have been invited to attend the meeting for a <br />discussion of low cost housing. <br />point . <br />MRS. NARY EMMA WILLSON CONGRATULATED ON HER RETIREMENT. <br />burg offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. Nary Emma Willson has given many years of faithful service to <br />the Village of Edina as a resident since 1902 and as an employee of the <br />Village of Edina since 1956; and <br />VHEREAS, Mrs. TJillson has endeared herself to her fellow workers and to the <br />citizens she served with her cheery smile and her willingness to ably assist <br />wherever and whenever she was needed; and <br />WHXREAS, Mrs. Willson has retired from her position with the Village of Edina; <br />and <br />l;JHEREAS, Mrs. Willson will be fondly missed by all persons with whom she worked; <br />N017, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Village Council express sincere <br />appreciation to Mrs. Mary Emma \~7illson for her long years of dedicated, unselfish <br />Council's attention ~7as <br />Councilman Johnson entered the meeting at this <br />Councilman Van Valken- <br />s&vice to the Village of Edina as an <br />church and fraternal functions and as <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of <br />of the Edina Village Council and that <br />presented to- MRS .
