<br />BRIAJS NIPPER" GUN SAFETY BUILDING AND GUN RANGE AND TRAP HOUSE RGSOLUTIONS OF
<br />APPRECIATION ADOPTED. Mayor Van Valiienburg read the following resolutions of
<br />appreciation which were accepted by Dr. and Mrs. Fred Wipperman and by Edina
<br />Optimists Club representatives, Messrs .- Robert Sherman and George Coyne:
<br />RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Fred F. Wippermann are. residents of the Gity of Edina; -
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, the Brian Wippermann Memorial Gun Safety Building and Gun Range is an
<br />integral part of the Edina Braemar Park; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Brian Wippermann Memorial Gun Safety Building and Gun Range is an
<br />equally integral part of Edina Park and Recreation Department programming, hav-
<br />ing provided gun safety training and practice for nearly 1,200 individuals; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Brian Wippermann Memorial Gun Range has served as the primary gun
<br />range for the Edina Police Department, as well as for other suburban law enforce-
<br />ment agencies; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Brian Wippermann Memorial Gun Safety Building and Gun Range is now
<br />completely owned by the City of Edina, with the cost having been borne by Dr.
<br />and Mrs . Wippermann;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Edina City Council, acting on behalf of
<br />residents of the City of Edina, that the heartiest appreciation of the City of
<br />Edina, Minnesota, be conveyed to
<br />for thclr mast generous gift.
<br />WHEREAS, the Edina Optimists Club is a productive and on-going community. service
<br />organization, serving the City of Edina; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Brian I~fippermann Memorial Gun Safety Building and Gin Range is En
<br />integral part of the Edina Braemar Park; and

<br />UHEREAS, the Brian Wippermann Memorial Gun Safety Build-in: an:! Gun 2ange was
<br />dedicated on June 30, 1971; and
<br />MEWAS, the Brian IJippermann Memorial Gun Safety Building and Gun Range is an
<br />integrel part of the Edina Braemar Park; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Brim Wippermann Memorial Gun Safety Building and Gun Range is an
<br />equally integral part of Edina Park and Recreation Department programming, hav-
<br />ing provided gun safety training and practice for nearly 1,200 individuals; and
<br />WEEWAS, the Brian Wipperaailn Memorial Gun Range has served as the primary gun
<br />range for the Edina Police Department, as well as for other suburban law
<br />enforcement agencies ; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Edina Optimists Club provided extensive volunteer service to the
<br />City of Edina while instructing students in the tenets of gun and rifle safety;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, the Trap House portion of the Brian Wippermann Memorial Gun Safety
<br />Building and Gun Rage is now completely owned by the City of Edina, with the
<br />cost having been borne by the Edina 0FtiTD;ists Club;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Edina City Council, acting on behalf.of
<br />the citizenry as a whole, that the heartiest appreciation of the City of Edina,
<br />Minnesota, he conveyed to THE EDINA OPTIMISTS CLUB.
