40 MINUTES <br />OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL <br />MARCH 15, 1982 <br />+ *. <br />Answering rollcall were Members Bredasen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner and Mayor <br />Courtney. <br />..- <br />Following presentation of the colors by the 3foki Camp Fire Group, the Mayor read <br />the following Camp Fire Week Proclamation: - <br />CAMP FIRE WEEK' PROCLAMATION 1 <br />WHEREAS, the National Council of Camp Fire has provided a program responding io <br />the diverse needs and interests of young people for 72 years; and <br />WHEREAS, Camp Fire is an organization open to all youth, regardless of race, <br />creed, sex, economic status or national background; and <br />WHEREAS, the National Council of Camp Fire Shall set aside the week of March I4 <br />thru March 21, 1982, as a celebration and shall by various public displays and <br />recognitions share this celebration with their communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Camp Fire provides "opportunities for youth to realize their potential <br />and to function effectively as caring, self-disciplined jndividuals responsible <br />to themselves and to others, and as an organization, to seek to improve those : <br />conditions in society which affect youth"; and <br />WHEREAS, Camp Fire is celebrating their 72nd Anniversary since their founding-- <br />the first national organization for girls in the country; and <br />WHEREAS, the Law of Camp Fire states "Worship God, Seek Beauty, Give Service, <br />Pursue Knowledge, Be Trustworthy, Hold on to Health, Glorify Work, Be Happy"; and <br />WHEREAS, the Watchword of Camp Fire is "WOHELO", Wbrk, Health, Love; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, C. Wayne Courtney, Mayor of the City of Edina, do hereby pro- <br />claim the week of March 15 through 22, 1982, to be <br />in Edina, Minnesota.. <br />CAMP FIRE WEEK <br />EDIEA HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY TEAM COMMENDED. <br />tion of Commendation: <br />The Mayor issued the following Resolu- <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION <br />THE EDINA HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY TEAM <br />WHERZAS, Zdina's long-standing superiority in youth hockey was again asserted dur- <br />ing the 1981-82 season by the-efforts of the Edina High School Hockey Team which <br />lost only four out of twenty-two games and climaxed its efforts by winning the <br />Minnesota State High School Tournament Championship; and <br />kXEP;EAS, as a result of the teas's exceptional record in regular season play, <br />Edina High School was rated as NUMBER ONE in high school hockey in the State of <br />Minnesota, winning the Lake Conference South Division and the Minnesota State <br />High School League.Region 6AA Championship; and <br />WHEREAS, as representatives of the City of Edina, the members of the team con- <br />tinued to 'exemplify the highest standards of gentlemanly conduct , athletic pro- <br />ficiency and good sportsmanship; and <br />WHEREAS, Head Coach Willard Ikola and Assistant Coaches Bart Larson and Robert <br />O'Connor were primarily responsible, because of their dedication and unselfish- <br />ness for providing the leadership; and <br />WHEREAS, Edina High School's success in hockey is due in large part to the uni <br />tiring efforts of many parents who participate in the comprehensive Edina-Youth <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina, on <br />behalf of the citizenry as a whole, that all members of the Edina High School. <br />Hockey Team be publicly commended for their outstanding accomplishments; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the pages <br />of the Minutes Book of the Edina City Council and that appropriate copies be <br />presented to members of the team: <br />Dave Baker, Bill Brauer, Dan Carroll, Wally Chapman, Brian Cutshall, John DeVoe, <br />Mike DeVoe, Keven Galbraith, Andy Kasid, Jim Lozinski, Dave Maley, Jay Malm- <br />quist,' Mike McCarthy, Greg McKush,-Mike Roberts, Paul Roff, Tom Rzeszut, Jeff <br />Vacanti, Student Managers Ted Cadwell and Chris White, Assistant Coaches Bart <br />Larson and Robert O'Connor, Coach Willard Ikola, Athletic Directors Bud Bjerken <br />and Sara,Lykken, Principal James L.
