MINUTES <br />OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />OF EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL <br />DECEMBER 6, 1982 <br />Answering rollcall were Members Bredesen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner and Mayor <br />Courtney. <br />ROBERT L. OREPJEYER COMMENDED UPON RECEIPT OF SAMUEL A. GREELEY AWARD. Mr. Ros- <br />land commended Mr. Robert L. Obermeyer for his 32 years of service to the City <br />of Edina, as well as upon his receipt from the Amdrican Public Works Association <br />of the Samuel A. Greeley Award. . Nr. Obermeyer received a pen bearing the logo <br />of the City of Edina and was warmly thanked by the Mayor and Council for his long <br />years of dedicated service. <br />EDINA MASONIC LODGE THANKED FOR $1,000 CHECK. Mr. Oris Benson and Everett <br />(Bud) Erickson were present to present a check for $1,000 to the City for use <br />by the Fire Department. Council was advised that this money came from profits <br />from the Annual Pancake Breakfast at which the Edina Eastern'Star Ghapter also <br />assisted. Member Schmidt thereupon offered the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: I <br />1 RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />WHEREAS, for the past five years, the Edina Masonic Lodge has donated money to <br />the Edina Fire Department for its rescue equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, this money has been earned by members of the Lodge from their efforts <br />in putting on an annual Edina Flapjack Festival; and <br />WHEREAS, a check in the amount of $1,000 has been given generously to the Edina <br />Fire Department for purchase of rescue equipment ; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Edina City Council that most sincere <br />appreciation be expressed to all members of the Edina Masonic Lodge for its <br />interest in the well-being of all Edina residents for the generous contribution <br />of $1,000; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the pages of the <br />Minutes Book of the Edina City Council and that an appropriate copy be presented <br />to the <br />as a token of the gratitude of the Edina City Council. <br />Motion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Member Bredesen and <br />unanimously carried. <br />\ <br />EDINA MASONIC LODGE <br />LEO EVANS PROPERTY GRANTED PRELIMINARY PLAT APPROVAL AND R-2 ZONING. Affidavits <br />of Notice were presented by Clerk, approved as to form and ordered placed on <br />file. Mr. Hughes recalled that consideration of Evans property had last been <br />continued from the Council Meeting of November 15, 1982. Mr. Roger Clemence, <br />on behalf of Mr. Leo Evans, presented a new proposal for fourteen single family <br />dwellings and six lots designated. for double bungalows. Evans, Jr., and presented at the Edina City <br />Council Meeting of December 6, 1982, be and is hereby granted preliminary plat <br />approval. <br />Motion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Member Bredesen. <br />Rollcall : <br />Ayes: Bredesen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner, Courtney <br />Nays: None <br />Resolution adopted. <br />Member Richards thereupon offered Ordinance No. 811-A168 for First Reading <br />as follows: <br />ORDINANCE NO. 811-A168 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE (NO. 811) <br />BY ADDING TO THE MULTIPLE RESIDENCE DISTRICT <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDINA, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS: <br />is amended by adding the following thereto: <br />addition of the following property: <br />Section 1.
