252 MINUTES <br />.’ <br />-. <br />b <br />i-. <br />OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL <br />APRIL 4, 1983 <br />Answering rollcall were Members Bredesen, Schmidt, and Mayor Courtney. <br />EDINA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM COMMENDED. <br />following Resolution of Commendation to the Edina High School Boys Basketball <br />Team, which resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION <br />THE EDINA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM <br />Mayor Courtney presented the <br />I WHEREAS, during the 1982-83 season, the Edina Boys Basketball Team has compiled <br />an enviable record of 23 wins and 1 loss, and <br />WHEREAS, the Edina High School Boys Basketball Team has represented Edina in the <br />1983 Class AA Minnesota State Boys Basketball Tournament, and has won the Conso- <br />lation Title in the tournament; and <br />WHEREAS, as representatives of the City of Edina, the members of the team conducted <br />themselves in a gentlemanly manner and exemplified the highest standards of <br />athletic proficiency and good sportsmanship; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina, on <br />behalf of the citizenry as a whole, that all members of the Edina High School Boys <br />Basketball Team be publicly commended for their outstanding accomplishments; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the pages <br />of the Minutes Book of the Edina City Council and that appropriate copies be <br />presented to members of the team: Robert Arnold, Richard Cohen, Patrick Donohue, <br />Blake Hanson, Mark Helgran, Paul Kemble, Timothy McGovern, Michael Matson, Patrick <br />Meitz, Michael Meredity, Eric Raether, Steven Schroder, Michael Sweeney, Robert <br />Wassenaar, James Williams, Brian Dahl, Mike Dobies, Pat Finley, Ted Lamson, Brian <br />Powell, Assistant Coaches Phil Finanger and Ed Hammersten, Coach Robert Savre, <br />Athletic Directors Bud Bjerken and Sara Lykken, Principal James L. Cabalka and <br />Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Lieber. <br />EDINA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC TEAMS COMMENDED. <br />following Resolution of Congratulations to Edina High School ‘athletic teams, <br />which resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLUTION OF CONGRATULATIONS <br />WHEREAS, the Edina Girls Gymnastics Team, the Boys Swimming Team, the Boys and <br />Girls Cross Country Ski Team and the Boys and Girls Slalom Ski Teams have completed <br />successful seasons with their particular teams, winning Lake Conference and <br />Region 6A.A Tournaments; and <br />WHEREAS, success in their fields has come to members of the team because of their <br />extraordinary ability, hours of practice, and the* leadership of their Coaches <br />and Student Managers alike; and <br />WHEREAS, members of these teams behaved always in a manner reflecting the creGit <br />they have brought to the City of Edina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina that <br />sincere congratulations be extended to members of the teams, to their Coaches <br />and Student Managers, to Athletic Directors Bud Bjerken and Sara Lykken, to <br />Principal James L. Cabalka and to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Lieber; <br />and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the pages <br />of the Minutes Book of the Edina City Council and that appropriate copies be <br />given to members of the teams. <br />RECOGNITION OF EAGLE SCOUTS. Mayor Courtney extended the congratulations of <br />the Council to Eagle Scouts: David Halla, William Malecki and Raymond Sit <br />and presented Commendation Awards to them in recognition of their community <br />projects as a requirement to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, and their efforts <br />in helping make the City of Edina a better place to live. <br />Mayor Courtney also presented the <br />MINUTES of February 28, 1983, were approved as submitted by motion of Member <br />Schmidt, seconded by Member Bredesen. <br />PEARSON/ELMER TOTJNHOUSES REZONING AND PRELIMINARY PLAT HEARING CONTINUED TO <br />APRIL 18, 1983. -As recommended by Mr. Hughes, Member Bredesen’s motion’was <br />seconded by Member Schmidt to continue the public hearing on the PearsodElmer <br />Townhouses for rezoning and preliminary plat approval to April18, 1983. <br />Ayes: Bredeson, Schmidt, Courtney <br />Nays: None <br />Motion carried. <br />WESTRIDGE ESTATES GRANTED FINAL PLAT APPROVAL. <br />Estates for final plat approval, generally located North of the Crosstown Highway, <br />Mr. Hughes presented Jestridge
