MINUTES <br />OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE' <br />EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL <br />AUGUST 1, 1983 <br />Answering rollcall were Members Bredesen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner and Mayor <br />Courtney. <br />MINUTES of the Regular Meetings of July 11 and July 18, 1983, were approved as <br />submitted by motion of Member Turner, seconded by Member Schmidt. <br />Ayes: Bredesen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner, Courtney <br />Motion carried. <br />MITCHELL ASPELUND COMMENDED. Mr. Bernhardson commended Mr. Mitchell Aspelund for <br />his service to the City of Edina. In 1980 Mr. Aspelund began working for the <br />City in arena maintenance. He is the Assistant Arena Manager, and Mr. Bernhardson <br />pointed out that Mr. Aspelund is in charge of all the refrigeration equipment. <br />Part of the work that Mr. Aspelund has done is repair and overhaul of all engines <br />and air conditioning equipment. Mr. Bernhardson indicated that Mr. Aspelund has <br />made these inhouse repairs for an extensive savings for the City. <br />presented Mr. Aspelund with a silver pen bearing the Edina Logo. Members of the <br />Council expressed their appreciation for his steadfast service to the City. <br />Mr. Bernhardson <br />AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO PERMIT INDOOR SOCCER ARENAS IN PID DISTRICT <br />CONTINUED TO 8/45/83. <br />Reed, Member Bredesen's motion was seconded by Member Schmidt to continue the <br />hearing on amendment to zoning ordinance to permit indoor soccer arenas as a <br />principal use in the Planned Industrial District to August 15, 1983. <br />As requested by the proponents representative, Mr. Barry <br />Ayes: Bredesen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner, Courtney <br />Motion carried. <br />ZUPPKEWOOD FINAL PLAT APPROVED. Mr. Hughes recalled that at the July 18, 1983 <br />meeting a preliminary plat was approved for this property located generally south <br />of Evanswood Lane and west of Blake Road, measuring 2.67 acres and zoned R-1 <br />Single Family Dwelling District. <br />subdivision of the property. <br />submitted a revised plat at the July 18 meeting showing the altered lot lines <br />to provide a better orientation with Evanswood and to avoid driveway conflict with <br />the home to the north. Staff had recommended approval of the subdivision subject <br />to 1) subdivision dedication, and 2) the extension of the sanitary sewer on <br />Evanswood Lane, south to the property line of Lot 1. No comments being heard, <br />Member Richards offered the following resolution and moved its adoption, subject <br />to subdivision dedication and extension of the sanitary sewer as recommended by <br />staff: <br />The proponents are requesting a three lot <br />Mr. Hughes reminded Council that the proponents had <br />RESOLUTION GRANTING FINAL PLAT <br />APPROVAL FOR ZUPPKEWOOD <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina, Minnesota, that that <br />certain plat entitled "Zuppkewood", platted by Ralph I. and Juanita M. Allison, <br />and presented at the regular meeting of the City Council on August 1, 1983, be <br />and is hereby granted final plat approval subject to payment of a subdivision <br />dedication fee of $6,000.00 and the extension of the sanitary sewer on Evanswood <br />Lane, south to the property line of Lot 1. <br />Motion-for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Member Bredesen. <br />Rollcall : <br />Ayes: Bredesen, Richards, Schmidt, Turner, Courtney <br />Resolution adopted. <br />LOT 7, 8 AND 9, BLOCK 2, BROOKSIDE HEIGHTS, INCLUDING VACANT ALLEY, LOT DIVISION <br />APPROVED. Mr. Hughes presented petition for division of Lots 7, 8 and 9, Block 2, <br />Brookside Heights, including half of vacant alley, generally located south of <br />Interlachen Boulevard, and west of Hankerson Avenue in which the proponents would <br />add the south 15 feet of Lot 8 to Lot 9, making a 65 foot lot. Lot 7 and the <br />northerly 35 feet of Lot 8 would become an 85 foot lot. Staff recommended approval <br />of this lot division, noting that it would greatly improve the site for the home <br />on Lot 9 and will not negatively impact the dwelling on Lot 7. No objections being <br />heard, Member Bredesen offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the following described property is at present a single tract of land: <br />Lot 8, Block 2, Brookside Heights, including half of vacant alley, <br />according to the recorded plat thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, the owners have requested the subdivision of said tract into separate <br />parcels (herein called "Parcels") described as follows : <br />Lot 9 and the South 15 feet of Lot 8, all in Block 2, Brookside Heights, <br />including half of vacant alley, according to the recorded plat thereof; and
