I10 MINUTES <br />'OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL <br />APRIL 14, 1986 <br />Answering rollcall were Members Kelly, Richards and Mayor Courtney. <br />HI FLYERS CO-REC VOLLEYBALL TEAM COMMENDED. Mayor Courtney introduced the <br />following resolution, and Member Kelly moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION <br />EDINA HI FLYERS ADULT CO-REC VOLLEYBALL TEAM <br />WHEREAS, the Edina Hi Flyers Adult Volleyball Team won the 1986 Minnesota <br />Recreation and Park Association State Class "C" Championship, and completed <br />an outstanding season of performance; and <br />WHEREAS, the Edina Hi Flyers Adult Volleyball Team are the Edina Co-Rec League <br />champions for 1986; and <br />WHEREAS, success in the State Tournament has been the result of their special <br />ability, dedication of the sport, and for their behavior in a manner reflecting <br />the credit they have brought to the City of Edina. i <br />I <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Edina City Council that sincere congratu- <br />lations be extended to members of the team: Mark Wood, Jan Engel, Kari DeAnn <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be entered into the Minutes <br />1 .I <br />i <br />i t <br />Snyder, Mike J. Snyder, Becky Helgeson, Lori Hentges, Doug Berge, Vicki Snyder l <br />and Team Manager, Mark Nelson. I <br />Book of Edina City Council and that appropriate copies be given to members of the <br />Championship Team. <br />Motion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Member Kelly. <br />Rollcall : <br />Ayes : Kelly, Richards, Courtney <br />Resolution adopted. <br />LOT DIVISION APPROVED FOR LOT 21, BLOCK 1, OSCAR ROBERTS 1ST ADDITIOX (7313-15 <br />GLOUCHESTER DRIVE). Mr. Hughes indicated that staff recommends approval of this <br />simple lot division. <br />following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />WHEREAS, the following described property is at present a single tract of land: <br />WHEREAS, the owner has requested the subdivision of said tract into separate <br />parcels (herein called "Parcels") described as follows : <br />No objections being heard, Member Richards introduced the <br />RESOLUTION <br />Lot 21, Block 1, Oscar Roberts 1st Addition; <br />The North Half of Lot 21, Block 1, Oscar Roberts 1st Addition, Hennepin <br />County, Minnesota; and <br />The South Half of Lot 21, Block 1, Oscar Roberts 1st Addition, Hennepin <br />County, Minnesota. <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that compliance with the Subdivision and Zoning <br />Re3ulations of the City of Edina will create an unnecessary hardship and said <br />Pa?.-r..'s as separate tracts of land do not interfere with the purposes of the <br />S-ti-7:. . ;ion and Zoning Regulations as contained in the City of Edina Ordinance <br />Nos. Nl and 825. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved by the City Council of the City of Edina <br />that the conveyance and ownership of said Parcels as separate tracts of land is <br />hereby approved and the requirements and provisions of Ordinance No. 801 and <br />Ordinance No. 825 are hereby waived to allow said division and conveyance thereof <br />as separate tracts of land but are not waived for any other purpose or as to any <br />other provisions thereof, and subject, however, to the provisions that no further <br />subdivision be made of said Parcels unless made in compliance with the pertinent <br />ordinances of the City of Edina or with the prior approval of this Council as may <br />be. provided for ,by .those. ordinances. <br />Motion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Member Kelly. <br />Rollcall : <br />Ayes: Kelly, Richards, Courtney <br />Resolution adopted. <br />DECISION OF BOARD OF APPEALS AND ADJUSTMENTS ON SIDEYARD SETBACK VARIANCE REQUEST <br />OF DAN AND LINDA KESTER UPHELD (4015 WEST 45TH STREET). Affidavits of Notice <br />were presented by Acting City Clerk approved and ordered placed on file. Mr. __ Hughes explained that the petitioners, Dan and Linda Kester of 4015 West 54th <br />Street, desire to expand an existing single car garage at their Edina residence <br />and create additional living space over the garages. <br />the structure will be 21 feet. At the highest point, the structure is 24 feet. <br />The Zoning Ordinance specifies that homes of this height must maintain a 13 foot <br />setback to the side property line. The proposal is to locate the addition <br />three feet from the property line and thus a ten-foot variance is requested. <br />In this case, the petitioners feel the existing single car garage presents <br />somewhat of a hardship and that the expansion into a double garage would <br />eliminate this hardship, creating a desireable addition to the property. <br />The average height of <br />Staff
