<br />Answering rollcall were Members Kelly, Richards, Smith, Turner and Mayor
<br />EZAG CEREMONY CONDUCTED BY CAMP FIRE; CAMP FIRE BIRTHDAY WEEK PROCLAIMED. The
<br />meeting was opened by the presentation of the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance
<br />by the Camp Fire Friendly Bluebirds of Countryside School.

<br />PRO CLAMAT ION
<br />WHEREAS, Camp Fire, Inc., the national youth organization will be celebrating its
<br />77th birthday on March 17, 1987, and
<br />WHEREAS, Camp Fire councils in the State of Minnesota offer our young people the
<br />opportunity of informal educational programs which combine group activities with
<br />the development of individual talents, as well as offering flexible programming
<br />focused on encouraging life skills education for young people of all ages; and
<br />WHEREAS, as a community organization, Camp Fire is concerned with preserving the
<br />environment, adapting to social change, the application of democratic standards
<br />and stimulating and guiding young people; and
<br />TmREAS, in Camp Fire, recognition of accomplishments is combined with the encour-
<br />agement to use developing skills to serve others in the community; and
<br />WHEREAS, Camp Fire is commended for the opportunities its programs offer to young
<br />people in the State of Ennesota and throughout the nation and for the many
<br />services these young people perform for their communities as Camp Fire members;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, C. Wayne Courtney, Mayor of the City of Edina, do hereby
<br />officially proclaim March 15 to'March 22, 1987, to be
<br />in the City of Edina.

<br />RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE FOR BOWER HATJTHORNE ADOPTED.
<br />following resolution of condolence which was unanimously adopted:
<br />WHEREAS, the life of Bower Hawthorne, a long time resident of Edina and former
<br />public official, ended on March 7, 1987, and
<br />WHEREAS, he was held in high esteem by all who knew him for his many civic interests
<br />and efforts in serving his community; and
<br />WHEREAS, he held the position of Village Clerk of Edina from January 1, 1943 to
<br />October 15, 1952, and
<br />WHEREAS, as Clerk his primary duty was the recording of the official Minutes of
<br />the Village Council during the early growth years of the Village of Edina; and
<br />WHERFAS, he was a founding member of the Colonial Church of Edina;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Edina City Council hereby extends its
<br />heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Helen, and to his children and their families;
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be entered in the Minutes Book of
<br />the Edina City Council and that a copy be presented to his family.

<br />of the Regular Council Meetings of February 23 and March 2, 1987.

<br />banking association; Indian Hills Company, a Minnesota general partnership and

<br />the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a Minnesota non-profit corporation and Cross
