456 MINUTES <br />OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL <br />JULY 6, 1987 <br />Answering rollcall were Members Kelly, Smith, Richards, Turner and Mayor Courtney. <br />RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE FOR ROBERT BAHNEMAN ADOPTED. Mayor Courtney presented the <br />following resolution of condolence which was adopted unanimously: <br />WHEREAS, on the 29th day of June, 1987, death brought to a close the active and <br />productive life of Robert Bahneman; and <br />WHEREAS, Robert Bahneman, through his 19 years of employment with the City of <br />Edina, earned the affection and respect of the people inthe City of Edina, <br />Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, Robert Bahneman served as Chief,Building Official for eight years; and <br />WHEREAS, as the Chief Building Official he exhibited the highest level of <br />knowledge and skill in inspections for the City of Edina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of <br />Edina, Minnesota, does by this resolution and public record, recognize the <br />profound influence of Robert Bahneman upon the building .inspections within the <br />City of Edina, recognizing further that this death is a distinct loss to the City <br />in which he lived and worked and won deep affecgion and respect. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the <br />Council and copies thereof be sent to his son, Bruce Bahneman, and to his <br />daughter, Mary Bahneman, in recognition of Robert Bahneman's respected place <br />within this community. <br />ADOPTED this 6th day of July, 1987. <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTED IN SUPPORT OF UNITED WAY'S COMMUNITY CAMPAIGNS. <br />presented the following resolution which was adopted unanimously: <br />WHEREAS, the United Way of Minneapolis Area currentlyprovides funding to more <br />than 350 programs in 108 agencies, many located in and serving suburban <br />communities. For example, in the Edina area agencies such as Storefront/Youth <br />Action and the American Cancer Society provide programs .ranging from individual <br />and group counseling for victims of physical and sexual-abuse to services for <br />cancer patients ; and <br />WHEREAS, the efforts of thousands of communi%y volunteers .enable the United Way to <br />maintain fundraising and administrative costs .under nine cents to a dollar; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1987 funds are being distributed to qualitypragrams that reach more <br />people in suburban communities. <br />and private planning groups to identify gaps in services-in a continuing effort to <br />meet the comprehensive needs of people in the six county service area; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of Edina hereby <br />support United Way's community campaigns during the week'of August 19, 1987, in <br />the City of Edina and encourage local businesses and their employees to <br />participate in this event. <br />Accepting the resolution was Trish Sackrison, Southwest Area Team Leader for <br />United Way. <br />RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE <br />Mayor Courtney <br />RESOLUTION <br />The United Way works a2th county planning boards <br />CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS ADOPTED. <br />Member Smith to adopt the consent agenda as presented. <br />Motion was made by Member Kelly and seconded by <br />Rollcall: <br />Ayes: Kelly, Richards, Smith, Turner, Courtney <br />Motion carried. <br />*MINUTES OF THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 15, 1987 APPROVED. Motion was <br />made by Member Kelly and seconded by Member Smith to approvethe minutes of the <br />Regular Council Meeting of June 15, 1987. <br />Motion carried on rollcall vote, five ayes. <br />*LOT DIVISION APPROVED FOR LOT 13. BLOCK 1. GLEASON COURT (6505-07 GLEASON COURT). <br />Motion was made by Member Kelly and seconded by Member Smith to adopt the <br />following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the following described property is at present a single tract of land: <br />WHEREAS, the owners have requested the subdivision of said tract into separate <br />parcels (herein called "Parcels") described as follows : <br />RESOLUTION <br />Lot 13, Block 1, GLEASON COURT; and <br />Parcel A: That part of Lot 13, Block 1, GLEASON COURT, according to the <br />record plat thereof, City of Edina, Hennepin County, Minnesota, lying <br />westerly of a line drawn from a point on the north line of said Lot 13 <br />distant 64.94 feet west of the northeast corner thereof, as measured along <br />said north line, to a point on the south line of said Lot 13 distant 70.40 <br />feet west of the southeast corner thereof, as measured along said south line, <br />and reserving easements of record; <br />and <br />Parcel B: That part of Lot 13, Block 1, GLEASON COURT, according to the <br />record plat thereof, City of Edina, Hennepin County, Minnesota, lying <br />easterly of a line drawn from a point on the north line of said Lot 13 <br />i <br />! <br />I
