210 BClNUTES OF TEE JOINT MEETING OF THE <br />ED= HOUSING AND REDEVELOllIwT AUTHORI!CY/CITY COUNCIL <br />HELD AT ED= CITY HUT.. <br />HAY 15, 1989 <br />A joint meeting of the Edina Housing and Redevelopment Authority and the City <br />Council was convened to consider concurrently: <br />Development, and 50th & France District - Amendment to Redevelopment Plan and <br />Renovation Improvement No. 89-9. <br />required and as recorded. <br />ROILCALL Answering rollcall were Commissioners/Members Kelly, Paulus, Rice, Smith <br />and Richards. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON HAWEIORN HOTEL DEVELOPFENT CONTINUED TO 6/5/89 <br />Richards announced that the proponent of the Hawthorn Hotel development has <br />requested that the public hearing on the proposed development be continued to the <br />meeting of June 5, 1989. <br />Edinborough - Hawthorn Hotel <br />Action was taken by the HRA and the Council as <br />Chairman/Mayor <br />Commissioner/Member Paulus made a motion to continue the public hearing on the <br />proposed Hadhorn Hotel development to the meeting of June 5, 1989. <br />seconded by Commissioner/Member Smith. <br />Motion was <br />1 <br />Ayes: Kelly, Paulus, Rice, Smith, Richards <br />Motion carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING CONDUCTED: AMENDMENT TO 50TB & FRAMCE REDEVETiOPMENT PUN APPROVED; <br />Affidavits of Notice were presented, approved and ordered placed on file. With a <br />slide presentation, Engineer Fran Hoffman showed the various areas at the 50th & <br />France Business District that were in need of repair or replacement and that would <br />be included in the project. <br />following: <br />50TH &FRANCE BUSINESS DISTRICT RENOVATION IMPROVEMENT NO. 89-9 AUTHORIZED <br />The proposed project would involve renovation of the <br />1) <br />2) 3) Replacement of trash containers <br />4) <br />5) <br />6) <br />7) <br />Portions of sidewalk and tile pavers <br />Replacement of some of the bollards <br />Removal and replacement of a portion of landscaping <br />Refurbishing of kiosks and bell tower <br />Removal and replacement of the alley canopy east of Belleson's <br />Consideration of construction of a canopy over the alley on the west side <br />of the theater. <br />Engineer Hoffman recalled that at its meeting of April 3, 1989 the Housing and <br />Redevelopment Authority had considered the proposed 50th & France Business <br />District renovation improvement project and had agreed to finance 80% of the <br />renovation costs. <br />the 50th & France Business District.
