HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-12-20 Council Special Meeting MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL DECMEBER 20, 2005 - 5:00 P.M. ROLLCALL Answering rollcall were Members Housh, Hulbert, Masica, Swenson, and Mayor Hovland. Also present were Senator Michel, Representative Erhardt and Representative Peterson. Senator Michel left the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Mayor Hovland stated the purpose of the meeting was to allow the legislative delegation and the Council to discuss items of mutual interest that may be part of the 2006 Legislative Session. The Council briefly discussed with Senator Michel, Representative Erhardt and Representative Peterson the following issues of mutual concern: ■ Committee assignments of the legislators ■ Shortness of upcoming legislative session; ■ Potential for budget surplus and implication of court decision on cigarette impact fee on the State budget; • Traffic congestion on regional roadways and financing potential for improvements; transportation funding possibilities; ■ Potential Constitutional Amendment for November ballot ■ Potential eminent domain legislation; ■ Potential smoking legislation; ■ Market Value Homestead Credit, Tax Policies; ■ Future Town Meeting in Edina regarding Highway 100 This being the only item on the Special Council Agenda, Mayor Hovland adjourned the Council Meeting at 6:45 P.M.
