Edina Senior Center Offers Smart Driving Courses
Edina, Minn., Jan. 15, 2015 – Together with AARP, the Edina Senior Center offers Smart Driving Courses,
which result in insurance savings, for adults 55 and older.
With the completion of the AARP eight-hour Introductory Course, the State of Minnesota offers a 10-
percent insurance discount, good for three years. The class uses a workbook through which participants learn
tips to drive safely. There is no test. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate to present to
their insurance agents. The course is led by the National Safety Council. Refreshments are provided.
The introductory course will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, March 14 and April 11 at the
Edina Senior Center’s Sherwood Room. Participants only need to complete one eight-hour course in order to
receive the insurance discount.
Once the eight-hour course is taken, you can renew your 10-percent discount for another three years with a
four-hour refresher course.
The refresher course will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, March 19 and April 23 at the Edina
Senior Center’s Sherwood Room. Participants only need to complete one four-hour course in order to
receive the renewed insurance discount.
The fee for both the Introductory Course and Refresher Course is $22 for AARP members and $25 for non-
AARP members.
