‘Innovation in All Directions:’ Local officials to present
annual State of the Community
Edina, Minn., Feb. 24, 2015 – Edina Mayor James B. Hovland, City Manager Scott H. Neal and
Edina Public Schools Superintendent Ric Dressen will present the “2015 State of the Community”
Monday, March 2, in the Council Chambers of Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St.
The men will speak about current affairs in Edina. Specifically, Hovland will speak about recently approved
redevelopment projects in the four quadrants of Edina. Neal will talk about how City staff is working to
address the City Council’s 2014-2015 strategic priorities. Dressen will talk about the school district’s
strategic plan and aligning resources for all students.
An attorney, Hovland joined the Edina City Council in 1997 and has been Mayor since 2005. Neal began
work as City Manager in 2010. Prior to joining the City staff, he served as City Manager of Eden Prairie and City
Administrator for the communities of Northfield, Minn.; Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and Norris, Tenn. Dressen has been
Superintendent of Edina Public Schools since July 2006. Prior to this position, he served as Superintendent of Alexandria
Public Schools.
There is no cost to attend the State of the Community and reservations are not necessary.
The speech will later be broadcast on Edina Community Channels 16 and 813 and available for streaming
online. It will be broadcast 10 p.m. Sundays, 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays, 10 p.m. Fridays and 6 a.m. and 2
p.m. through March 30.
