FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City Continues Environmental Film Series With ‘Cowspiracy: The
Sustainability Secret’
Edina, Minn., March 19, 2015 – The City of Edina’s Energy & Environment Commission (EEC) is presenting
the first installment of its 2015 Environmental Film series. The documentary, “Cowspiracy: The Sustainability
Secret,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17. The documentary will be shown at no cost for attendees at
Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St.
“Cowspiracy” is a feature-length, environmental documentary following filmmaker Kip Andersen as he
investigates animal agriculture. Andersen argues that the industry is the leading cause of deforestation, water
consumption and pollution, more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry and the primary driver of
rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion and ocean “dead zones.”
EEC Member John Howard believes the film will shed light on how our diets can affect the environment.
“Controversial and thought provoking, the film ties together how the meat we eat impacts the environment,”
he said. “Many people, including me, don’t give much thought to where our food comes from and how it
changes the planet. ‘Cowspiracy’ may change that.”
The EEC encourages attendees to stay after for a discussion following the movie. For more information, contact
Environmental Engineer Ross Bintner at 952-903-5713 or RBintner@EdinaMN.gov.
