City Asks Residents Opinions about Communications on ‘Speak
Up, Edina!’
Edina, Minn., June 3, 2015 – The City’s next online discussion is now available at www.SpeakUpEdina.org.
The discussion, which focuses on communications, is available until July 1.
The City of Edina uses many communications vehicles, including a website (www.EdinaMN.gov), multiple social
media sites (City Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram; Facebook pages for Edina Liquor, Centennial
Lakes Park, Edina Art Center, Braemar Golf Course, Braemar Arena, Edina Aquatic Center, Edinborough
Park, Braemar Field and Edina Senior Center), About Town and Edition: Edina publications, legal notices, City
Extra emails, Edina To Go mobile app, Edina Channels 16 and 813, press releases and more. In this month's
discussion, the City is interested in what residents think about how the City communicates.
In the discussion, the City asks if residents believe they have a responsibility to keep themselves informed on
local government issues; how they keep themselves informed; what sort of information could be added to the
City’s mobile app, Edina To Go; and what the City could do to improve or expand its communications efforts.
Feedback from this discussion will be presented to the City Council July 21.
In May, the City gathered feedback on Edina’s commercial areas. Questions included what types of businesses
the City should work to recruit, what they like most about their neighborhood commercial area and how it
could be improved, and what commercial areas could use some attention. Feedback from this discussion will
be presented to the City Council June 17.
