FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Van Valkenburg Park to Close Aug. 10-20 for Improvements
Edina, Minn., July 14, 2015 – Van Valkenburg Park, 4935 Lincoln Drive, will be closed for improvements
Aug. 10-20. The closure will prevent use of the off-leash dog area within the park.
“We are making park improvements to the site, including a total recon of the lower asphalt parking lot and
driveway,” said Park Maintenance Supervisor Bob Prestrud. “We also will be replacing the roof shingles on
the park shelter near the softball fields.”
The length of the closure may be shortened due to favorable weather the first week of construction.
During the park’s closure, Strachauer Park is a great alternative for dog park users. There, “off leash” is
limited to the hockey rink, secured with a temporary gate. Strachauer Park is located at 6200 Beard Ave S.
For more information on the Van Valkenburg Park closure and facility improvements, contact Prestrud at
