‘Public Art Profiles’ wins Regional Emmy
Edina, Minn., Oct. 23, 2015 – The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences recently presented a Regional Emmy to the City of Edina for “Public Art Profiles,” short videos
that highlight some of the art in the community and the artists behind them.
The 2015 Regional Emmy winners were announced Saturday, Oct. 3, at an event hosted by Twin Cities Public
Television at the Radisson Blu hotel in Bloomington. “Public Art Profiles” was named winner in the
“Interstitial” category. Other nominees in the category were Burnsville Community Television, Carlini
Entertainment, Pioneer Public Television and Twin Cities Public Television.
Video Production Coordinator Scott Denfeld accepted the award at the event. During his acceptance speech,
he gave a shout-out to other government access producers and thanked his Edina TV team for their work on
the project, which is done to further the efforts of the Edina Arts & Culture Commission’s Public Art
Working Group. Edina was the only government access winner in this year’s competition.
Edina’s award-winning interstitial was edited by former Community Television Administrator Nathalie Gage.
She was nominated for one other Regional Emmy, but came up short in the competition. She was nominated
as an editor of short-form videos for her work on “Public Art Profiles.”
The City began using its government-access channel to produce meetings in 2004. Two years later, the
Communications & Technology Services Department began producing some of its own content. The City has
been nominated for a Regional Emmy every year since 2009, but has only won two of the statues.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Upper Midwest Chapter, is dedicated to excellence in
television by honoring exceptional work. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, parent
organization of the Midwest Chapter, recognizes excellence in television with the Emmy Award. With more
than 13,000 broadcast professionals, the Academy is the single largest television industry professional
organization in the world.
