Residents and community members voted online and at various voting booths to select three People’s Choice Award winners. “Letting Go” by Judd Nelson of Wayzata, Minnesota, placed first; “Screw Tail Bass” by Andrew Arend of Rochester, Minnesota, placed second; and “Gravitation II” by Steve Elliott of Wayne, Nebraska, placed third. All three winning sculptures are located on the Edina Promenade. Many community members participated in the People’s Choice Awards, resulting in a record number of total votes collected. The City’s mobile app, “Edina to Go,” also made it easy for voters to submit their feedback. “We had over 500 people voting for their favorite sculpture,” explained Public Art Working Group Chair Barbara La Valleur. “We have seen a steady increase in people voting primarily through two major events in the city. The Public Art Edina booth at the Fall into the Arts Festival in September and the new Open Streets on 50th event accounted for the vast majority of votes.” All eligible entries included:  “La Casa Del Carbonero,” by Alfonso Sierralta  “Screw Tail Bass,” by Andrew Arend  “Letting Go,” by Judd Nelson  “High and Dry,” by Kyle Fokken  “Gravitation II,” by Steve Elliott  “3d6+4,” by Craig Snyder  “Xuberant! II,” by Craig Snyder  “Moose,” by Jim Dehne  “Horns,” by Timothy Cassidy  “Birds of a Feather,” by Judd Nelson All 10 sculptures in the rotating exhibit will be on display through May 2016. Recipients of the People’s Choice Award winners receive $1,000, $750 and $500, respectively, and are invited to show their sculptures for an additional year, for which they receive honorariums of $500. The Public Art Edina Working Group encourages community members to visit each display. Several other permanent public art displays can be found throughout the city.
