FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Minnehaha Music Repertory Orchestra to Perform for
Music in Edina Fall Concert
Edina, Minn., Oct. 22, 2015 – The next installment of the Music in Edina Series will feature a fall concert by
the Minnehaha Music Repertory Orchestra. The event will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in the Kenneth
Dragseth Auditorium at South View Middle School, 4725 South View Lane, Edina. Admission is free, though
donations are gratefully accepted. This program is supported by the Music in Edina Working Group, part of the
Edina Arts & Culture Commission.
The fall Music in Edina performance will feature Conductor Craig Randal Johnson and Violinist Elizabeth York. A
number of pieces will be performed, including Dvorák’s Romance for violin and orchestra and Hanson’s
Symphony No. 2, “Romantic.” Music by Sibelius and Gounod will also be performed.
The Minnehaha Music Repertory Orchestra, founded by Johnson and Edina resident Hilary Santoni in 2013,
provides the opportunity to area musicians to challenge and further develop their musical skill set, promote
advanced ability and broaden their knowledge of orchestral music. The format gives musicians the opportunity
to sight-read and rehearse a large variety of classical repertoire in an orchestral setting that they might not have
access to on their own.
York, the concertmaster of Minnehaha Repertory Orchestra, is a member of Lyra Baroque Orchestra and has
performed with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and as guest concertmaster of Kenwood Symphony
Orchestra. She has performed as a concerto soloist with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, as a baroque
violinist for St. Mark’s Episcopal Early Music series in Islip, New York, and in contemporary music performances
at New York City’s Merkin Hall and Symphony Space.
Johnson has wide ranging expertise as conductor, pianist, double bassist, musical collaborator and organizer. He
has worked with musicians from around the world, and has extensive experience as private teacher and coach.
