HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009 02-05 Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting Minutes Regularmeeting the Zoning Board tabled the request in order to encourage the applicant
to develop house plans to be reviewed by the Heritage Preservation Board. The
Zoning Board felt that the HPB should review the house plans prior to any
variance review for driveway width. On January 13, 2009, the HPB heard and
granted preliminary approval of the house plan. The HPB voted unanimously to
support the subject driveway width variance.
Planner Aaker concluded that staff recommends approval of the 3 -foot driveway
width variance.

Mr. Bill McLean, 46RI°`r:d na Boulevard, told the Board he is the owner of the
subject home. Mr. McLean explained that three years ago he purchased the
subject house with the intention of remodeling it; however, after various attempts
it was discovered that the house wasn't constructed very well, adding that tearing
down the house and building new made the most sense. Continuing, Mr.
McLean pointed out the majority of the driveways within the Country Club District
as less than 12 -feet wide, including many neighboring homes. Concluding, Mr.

Mclean asked the Board to approve the variance request; pointing out the 12 -
foot driveway width code doesn't make a lot of sense in the smaller lot
neighborhoods, reiterating the majority of driveways in the District are less than
12 -feet.
Member Vasaly moved to close the public hearing. Member Hornig
seconded the motion. All voted aye; motion carried".
