which could davelop, Mr. Hughes moved that the Commission deny the requested

IV. SOUTHEAST EDINA HEMNG
Mfr. Hoisington introduced Bon Brauer of Brauer and Associates who gave
a slide presentation on the Southeast Edina Plan Study. He noted that
there are 45 land otmers in the area and that 55 acres will be used for
streets and access points; 89 acres for recreation and parks and open
space, so 45% of space will not be developed. The remaining 55Z will be
divided into Regional Commercial; Service Commercial; Industrial, Lora,
Medium and high Density Multiples and Office.
Fir. Hoisington voted that the Planning Commissions of Edina and
Blowai, ngton had met as few weeks ago and as a result of that meeting, the
Edina Council had authorized the Planning Department to submit plans and
infoxmat-ion to the Motro Council For their evaluation of Interstate 494
from 35W to County Road 18. This effort is to be undertaken jointly by
flichfieldr Edina and Bloomington.
There ue.re many questions from Edina and B.ichfidld residents about
projected trtffic, zoning, roadways and the type of development expected
In this area. Chairman Griswold told the audience that the Village
ordinances really control the type of development that can happen and that
de relop gent is not anticipated for two to three years on much of the
property.
Mr. Hughes noted that we can't do too much developing until the roadway
system is take: care of. Perhaps we should urge that development not take
Place canoil the roadway system is done. If the highway department will
not. build any roads, maybe the area should remain R-1. Yr. Hoisington then
stated that the area will not, in.any event, remain R-1 in character and
that the Ilan must be adopted so that we will have a means to get necessary
action from the highway departments and the Netro Council.
Mr. Hiatt mored that the Cormission_ep2xove the plan as fax as it has
?,one and approve the general plan conceot. Mr. Nu,Rent seconded the motion.
