PROCLAMATION
TILLIE SCHOFFMAN DAY
SEPTEMBER 14, 2011
WHEREAS, Tillie Schoffman was born on September 14, 2011, in Bowbells, Ward
County, North Dakota. Tillie was one of eleven children born to
Ernest Elfstrum and Tilda Magnuson who were of Swedish heritage;
and
WHEREAS, Tillie Schoffman married John Schoffman on October 13, 1934 in
Excelsior, Minnesota, and had two sons, Jack and Joe Schoffman.
WHEREAS, Tillie raised her family and lived in her home at 4237 Alden Drive
since 1940, where she taught archery to neighborhood children at
nearby Weber Park and participated in tournaments herself, and
WHEREAS, Tillie's family attended Edina Morningside Church since moving to
Edina; and
WHEREAS, at 100 years of age, Tillie still walks daily and enjoys her visits with
neighbors along the way. She enjoys quiet times sitting in her yard
enjoying her flowers and saying her prayers.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, James B. Hovland, Mayor of Edina, do hereby proclaim,
September 14, 2011, as
Tillie Schoffman Day
to honor Tillie's long tenure in the Edina Morn'ngside community.
