(D INFRARED REPAIR SHALL BE APPROVED BY CITY ENGINEER PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
@ INFRARED REPAIR CANNOT BE PERFORMED ON PAVEMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN SEALCOATED, AND
CANNOT BE PERFORMED IN WET CONDITIONS.
@ REPAIR AREA SHALL INCLUDE ORIGINAL DAMAGED AREA PLUS 0.5' (MIN.) IN EACH DIRECTION.
@ PAVEMENT SHALL BE CLEANED 2' (MIN.) AROUND REPAIR AREA TO REMOVE ANY DIRT OR DEBRIS.
@ POTHOLE/CORE SHALL BE FILLED WITH FRESH HOT MIX BITUMINOUS.
@ REPAIR AREA SHALL BE HEATED BETWEEN 225' AND 350' F, AND SHALL BE MEASURED REGULARLY USING
INFRARED TEMPERATURE GUN. HEATING SHALL BE CONSIDERED COMPLETE WHEN PAVEMENT CAN BE EASILY
WORKED TO A DEPTH OF 2".
(J) IMMEDIATELY AFTER HEATING, THE TOP 1/2" (MIN.) OF PAVEMENT SHALL BE REMOVED.
@ REJUVENATOR AGENT SHALL MEET ASTM D4552 AND BE APPLIED PER MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS.
@ USING A HAND RAKE OR MECHANICAL TILLER, SCARIFY AND THOROUGHLY MIX REPAIR AREA TO A DEPTH OF 2", ADDING
FRESH HOT MIX BITUMl~OUS AS NEEDED. FRESH HOT MIX BITUMINOUS SHALL BE TYPE SP9.5 WEARING COURSE MIXTURE (SPWEA340B).
@ REPAIR AREA SHALL BE COMPACTED WITH A VIBRATORY STEEL DRUM ROLLER. FINISHED SURFACE SHALL BE SMOOTH,
TIGHT, AND MATCH EXISTING PAVEMENT GRADE.
®l REPAIR CAN BE OPENED TO TRAFFIC ONCE SURFACE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 175' F. PAVEMENT MAY BE COVERED IN
STONE DUST OR FINE SAND TO REDUCE SURFACE TACKINESS.
@ INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF REPAIR BY CITY ENGINEER REQUIRED.
