Re: May Meeting Cancelled.
In case you did not get my email yesterday, the May 13, 2008, Park Board meeting has been
cancelled due to a lack of pressing agenda items. We will definitely have a Park Board
meeting on Tuesday, June 10.
As a friendly reminder, we are hosting the Countryside Park neighborhood input meeting on
Thursday, May 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. We mailed about 230
notices to residents (those who live within 1,000 feet of the park). I have enclosed a hard copy
of the letter and questionnaire that was mailed to the neighborhood. We also mailed the same
to all of our athletic association presidents. We have already received several completed
surveys in the mail. I encourage all Park Board members to attend this input meeting. The
plan is to break out the group into several different tables to hear their concerns and ideas. It
would be helpful to have Park Board members present to hear first hand the input from the
community.
Another reminder, we are hosting the HopeKids special event at Edinborough Park the next
night, May 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Park Board members are welcomed to attend.
Also enclosed is a copy of the updated park assignment list for Park Board members. I intend
to have this on the June agenda to discuss duties and expectations associated with these park
assignments.
Within the next week or two I hope to mail to you our first draft attempt at and updated 5 -year
Capital Improvement Plan. I also plan on providing some language to change our mission
statement as I discussed earlier.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Many thanks.

Dear Resident Neighbor and/or User of Countryside Park:
The Edina Park Board invites your input regarding park improvements that in your view
should be considered for Countryside Park. You can provide your input into this process
in a number of ways:
1. Fill out the enclosed one-page survey questionnaire and mail it in the self-
addressed stamped envelope.
2. Attend the Countryside Park neighborhood input meeting scheduled for Thursday,
May 29, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Edina City Hall.
3. Send me your thoughts. in writing either by email at Jkeprios(a,ci.edma.mn.us or
postal mail.
There are a number of park improvements at Countryside Park that are being considered
to better meet the needs of the neighborhood and the community at large. Two concept
plans have been prepared to illustrate options for park improvements. These are ideas at
this point and we would like your input to help update the master plan for the park.
Examples of park improvements for consideration include new playground equipment,
new interior hard surface walking trails, comfort station (restrooms) with an extended
roof for a picnic area similar to Wooddale Park, new athletic field, a small off -leash dog
park for small dogs only, relocation of the Prep baseball field and more.
To learn more about park improvement concepts under consideration, please visit our
website at www.CitvofEdina.com/parks or feel free to contact me for more information.
Once the Park Board has completed the community input process, they will decide on a
final master plan for park improvements. The next step will then be to determine cost
estimates, funding alternatives and a construction schedule.
Your input on this matter is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Sincerely,
2Cep4nosirector
