PROCLAMATION
ABIGAIL TAYLOR REMEMBRANCE DAY
MAY 24, 2013
WHEREAS, Abigail Rose Taylor was the beloved daughter of Kathryn and Scott Taylor
and the spirited sister of Grace, Christina and Audrey; and
WHEREAS, Abigail Taylor suffered a traumatic injury June 29, 2007, while she was
playing in a wading pool at the Minneapolis Golf Club, and passed away
March 20, 2008, due to complications from her injuries; and
WHEREAS, Abigail Taylor's accident increased public awareness of pool safety and
led to legislative change. In December 2007, President George W. Bush
signed federal legislation that provides incentives for states to adopt
• comprehensive pool safety laws; and
WHEREAS, Abigail Taylor's legacy is that both the state and federal governments
have approved measures making swimming pools safer for all children.
NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Edina City Council, do hereby proclaim her birthday, May
24, 2013, as
ABIGAIL TAYLOR REMEMBRANCE DAY
And call upon all citizens of Edina to remember Abigail and er indomitable spirit.
