APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR JESUS CELEBRATION CHURCH
AT 6879 WASHINGTON AVENUE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina, Minnesota, as follows:
Section 1. BACKGROUND.
1.01 Jesus Celebration Church is proposing to remodel a small portion of the interior of the
existing office/light industrial building at 6879 Washington Avenue South into a church. The
church would hold services Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. They have 80
members in their congregation including children. There would be classrooms for children
education within the building that would also take place primarily Sunday and Wednesday's.
The proposed sanctuary would seat 144 people maximum, which would provide an
opportunity for the congregation to grow in size.
1.02 The property is legally described as follows:
Lot 1, Block 1, Washington Plaza, together with an easement for ingress and egress over that
portion of Lot 2, Block 1, Washington Plaza describes as follows: The South 30 feet of that
part of said Lot 2 lying North of the Westerly extension of the South line of Lot 1, Block I,
Washington Plaza, as created in Document No. 5770824.
1.03 To accommodate the request, the following land use applications are requested:
1. A Conditional Use Permit.
1.04 On June 14, 2017, the Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the
request.
1.05 On June 20, 2017 the City Council held a public hearing on the Conditional Use Permit.
Section 2. FINDINGS
2.01 Approval is based on the following findings:
I. Does not have an undue adverse impact on governmental facilities, utilities,
services or existing or proposed improvements;
2. Will generate traffic within the capacity of the streets serving the property;
3. Does not have an undue adverse impact on the public health, safety or welfare;

4. Will not impede the normal and orderly development and improvement of other
property in the vicinity;
5. Conforms to the applicable restrictions and special conditions of the district in
which it is located, as imposed by this chapter; and
6. Is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.
Section 3. APPROVAL
NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved by the City Council of the City of Edina, approves
the Conditional Use Permit for Jesus Celebration Church at 6879 Washington Avenue.
Approval is subject to the following conditions:
. Subject to staff approval, the site must be developed and maintained in substantial
conformance with the following plans, unless modified by the conditions below:
• Site & building plans date stamped June 17, 2017.
2. The property owner is responsible for replacing any existing landscaping that dies.
Adopted by the city council of the City of Edina, Minnesota, on June 20, 2017.
