"') i From: John Keprios, Director Edina Park and Recreation Department Date: July 10, 1998 Re: JULY 14, 1998, PARK BOARD MEETING CANCELED. You should have received a phone call from our office on Friday, July 10, informing you of the cancellation of the Park Board meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 1998. The original intent was to further discuss the Edina Aquatennial Swim Meet for 1999. The Edina Swim Club, however, has agreed to resolve the issue with staff. The Edina Aquatennial Swim Meet this year is at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center July 10-12, 1998. After their meet is over, staff will work with the Edina Swim Club to resolve next year's site request. I will inform all Park Board members of the results of our meeting. If you have any specific thoughts that you would like to share with me as we enter into discussions with the Edina Swim Club, feel free to give me a call. Just a couple other reminders, if you have not already, please RSVP for the Braemar Inspection Tour before July 21 st. Thank you. Also a reminder that there will be a Grand Opening Celebration at Lake Cornelia Park playground area on Thursday, July 23. After a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m., there will be family fun activities, music and food at the park so bring the whole family. This is a celebration of the completion of Lake Cornelia Park playground and all of the completed referendum projects. Hope to see you there. Mark your calendars for the afternoon on Sunday, September 13, 1998, at Centennial Lakes Park to celebrate Ken Rosland's retirement. It will be a fun filled afternoon of family recreation activities followed by a brief formal program. Notices of this event are to follow. One final note if you don't know already, Mr. Gordon Hughes has been appointed unanimously by the City Council as the new City Manager to succeed the retiring Ken Rosland. If you have any questions or wish to discuss any issues, feel free to call me at 826-0430. • Many thanks.
