These improvements included the upgrading of Braemar arena and pavilion, construction of a new nine hole golf course, the purchase of the Edina Golf Dome, the construction of a new driving range/executive club house building and the construction of a new parking lot at Braemar Club House. This report was presented to the Edina Park Board on April 26, 1988. The report was accepted and a recommendation was made to proceed with the plan to the City Council. The City Council reviewed the plan at its regular council meeting on May 2, 1988 and a motion was made to approve the arena's construction and to consider a new nine hole golf course at the August 1, 1988 council meeting. At • the August 1, 1988 meeting the City Council approved the proposal of the construction of the new nine hole golf course. At the regular City Council meeting of September 19, 1988, there was a recommendation to sell $2,470,000 for recreational bonds for improvements at the arena and golf course. At the October 3, 1988 meeting the bonds were awarded. In the winter of 1988-1989 an architect was obtained for preliminary drawings and specifications for the new nine hole golf course. These drawings were presented to the Nine Mile Watershed District, Department of Natural Resources and the Corps of Engineers to secure a permit for construction of the new nine hole golf course. This permit was submitted for approval in the fall of 1989. On June 5, 1992 a permit was granted to the City of Edina to proceed with the construction of the new nine hole golf course at Braemar. If the City Council decides to proceed with the construction of the new nine hole golf course the following time table could be followed: At the regular City Council meeting of July 6th, a recommendation would be made for review of the project at the regular Park Board meeting of July 14th and, if approved, it would be recommended to the City Council for final approval at the July 20th City Council meeting. Working drawings would be drawn and advertised on August 19th and bids would be opened on Sept. 15th. At the regular City Council meeting of September 21, 1992 bids would be awarded with a possible grand opening of the new nine hole golf course in the summer of 1994.
