MINUTES OF THE EDINA SENIOR ADVISORY COUNCIL July 22, 1992 MEMBERS PRESENT: Doraine Bingham, Polly Denison, Evelyn Gunn, Elizabeth Johnson, Inez Vogtman, Sue Weigle, Doris Westergren (members absent: Carl Carlson, Dick Sandvig) GUEST: Joanna Foote Reports were given by members: *Elizabeth stated that members of AARP will meet to consider starting a new chapter in Edina. *Doraine reported that Ruth Bakken fell while demonstrating and broke her wrist. Paramedics will come and give talk to tap group on July 29, this is needed for all groups to know how to react in an emergency. Joanna Foote, Assistant Communication Director for the City of Edina sat in on our meeting because she plans to write a feature article regarding our open house in the fall issue in About Town. OPEN HOUSE DISCUSSION: If possible we would like to take pictures of City Council members and Park Board members to display at our open house. Sue will take picture at August Park Board meeting and Joanna will take pictures of City Council members. Performing groups will come in various costumes. We will ask members of the band to play background music. Other organizations or groups will set up informational tables. Program will go as follows: 10:00am - socializing, information, coffee and goods 11:00am - ribbon cutting 11:00/noon - socializing, wrap up Donut holes and cookies and coffee will be served. Swannee Pearson and Evelyn Gunn will do floral arrangements. Ribbon cutting will take place between peach pillars. Shelves in display case will show variety of collections, talents and information regarding people of the Senior Center. Invitations will be sent to those other than senior center members, who contribute to the center through programs, services or involvement of renovation. Copies of Advisory Council Bylaws were distributed and will be approved at a later date. Thank you to Evelyn Gunn for the great homemade cookies. Meeting adjourned at 9:15am.
