RE: Park Board Meeting on October 13, 1992
City of Edina
As you may be aware, the Edina Park Board has been looking at the fundraising
issue for the past year and has conducted a survey that was given to each
association.
The Park Board is formally inviting all of the Athletic Association Presidents,
or a representative from each association, to attend the Park Board meeting on
Tuesday, October 13th at 7:30 p.m. in the Edina City Hall Manager's Conference
Room. This will give the presidents of each association a chance to discuss
this issue informally. The following boards will be represented at the Park
Board meeting:
Braemar City of Lakes Figure Skating Club
Edina Hockey Association
Edina Baseball Association
Edina Soccer Association
Edina Basketball Association
Edina Swim Club
Edina Football Association
Edina Wrestling Association
Edina Girls Athletic Association
Edina Youth Softball Association
Girls Traveling Basketball
Edina Girls Fastpitch Softball Association
Other topics that will be discussed in relationship to the Athletic Associations
are:
A. Residents/Non Residents
B. Increase in the Field Maintenance User Fee

1992 PARK PATROL REPORT
ARNESON ACRES 7/6 - A group of approximately 20 juveniles was gathering and
lighting off fireworks.
BRAEMAR 6/6 - Assisted rental agency in locating tents for the dog show,
so they could be taken down.
6/8 - No dumping.
6/8 - Overtime parking.
6/9 - Assisted Police Dept. for graduation ceremony by doing
security of parking lot, traffic control, and making sure
there were no problems with people on the surrounding hills.
6/16- Assisted person in locating correct soccer field.
6/17- 5 juveniles jumping on the golf dome.
6/22- Assisted person in locating West 70th Street.
7/7 - Overtime parking.
7/30- Vehicle blocking road.
8/5 - Assisted Police Dept. in crowd control after a fight, during
a hockey tournament.
BREDESEN 6/3 - Relocated a baby duck for a concerned party.
6/3 - Women's bathrooms won't flush.
7/27- Walking on bike path.
8/20- Set back timer for lights, so they would come on earlier.
CENTENNIAL LAKES
6/4 - Assisted Police Dept. in looking for prostitutes.
6/27- Juveniles playing in fountain.
6/29- Escorted approximately 15 skateboarders out of the park.
7/28- Investigated unusual noises for a concerned employee.
LAKE CORNELIA 7/2 - Escorted a car load of juveniles out of the park after
driving at high speeds through puddles.
7/4 - Found the mother for a child that was lost.
7/4 - Traffic and crowd control for fireworks show.
7/12- Motorist assist - lock out.
CORNELIA SCHOOLS
7/28- No roller-blading on tennis courts.
7/31- Group of approximately 10 juveniles lighting off fireworks.
8/3 - Extinguished trash can fire.
8/26- Group of juveniles making too much noise.
HIGHLANDS 8/27- Assisted Police Dept. in locating 5 juveniles smoking
marijuana.
KRAHL HILL 6/2 - Pile of garbage bags full of grass clippings.
NORMANDALE 6/6 - Found a set of car keys in restrooms.
6/29- Attempted to locate 2 juveniles with fireworks.
PAMELA 6/6 - Caught an unleashed dog.
TODD 8/5 - Assisted Police Dept. and Fire Dept. with a broken ankle
injury.
WALNUT RIDGE 8/13- No skateboarding.
WEBER 6/2 - Questioned 2 juveniles cleaning glass in woods.
LEWIS 6/29- Assisted a party in locating Long Brake Circle.
YORK 6/16- Juveniles with fireworks.

RECOMMENDATION
from 1992 Park Patrol
1. Issue a gas card. Gas was a common problem.
2. Issue a first aid kit. Should be mandatory.
3. Issue a fire extinguisher. Could have used on many times.
4. Place more recycling bins in main parks, including Krahl Hill.
5. Stake down Port -A -Potty type restrooms at Garden Park.
6. Install some kind of portable yellow beacon on truck. There were several
"close calls" while pulled over helping people; for their safety and park
rangers.
7. Hold off on any newspaper articles until the end of the season.
8. SIGNS
Install regulation signs at Creek Valley, Lewis, and Garden.
Install more regulation signs at Braemar, Lake Cornelia, and Pamela.
Install separate "Park closes at 11 p.m." signs in problem parks.
Install "No parking on grass" signs at Highlands.
Install "No motorized vehicles" signs on the road that goes up to the water
tower at Creek Valley.
