1986 FORESTRY REPORT
1986 was a very good year for the City of Edina, Forestry
Department. Because of funds being available to the department
we were able contract a percentage of removals and keep up with
the condemed trees and other removals. Also extra man power was
made available. Here is a break down of our tree removal program
by species for 1986.

July 10,1987
Mr. Gordon Hughes
Assistant City Manager
City of Edina
4801 W. 50th St.
Edina, MN 55424
Dear Gordon:
Attached are summaries of Canada goose removal and banding for the
Twin Cities in 1987. We captured and removed 218 birds (161 young
and 57 adults) from 6 Edina sites. Detailed information on each
capture site plus sites surveyed is also included.
The cost will be $3,000. One of these sites, Lake Cornelia, is an airport
goose control site and was covered by Airport project funds.
However, we had to make two drives at the Mill Pond.
I'm sending a contract to the University Office of Research
Administration with a budget of $3,500 per year for 3 years. This
should cover our expenses and is in the ballpark range we discussed.
The city will be billed for actual rather than estimated expenses.
Best wishes.
Sincerely yours,
Jam s A. Cooper
Associate Professor

Dear Sirs;
5861 Cedar Lake Road
Minneapolis, MN 55416
(612) 546-4726
I'm writing to compliment you on the management and staff
of the Municipal Pool. The guards are very attentive, and
seem to take their job very seriously. The pool area is
generally very clean, especially considering the amount of
use . The basket attendants are very pleasant and helpful.
You have a group of employees of whom you should be very
proud.
The other night I heard a patron complain that the music
over the loudspeaker was distracting to his reading. He
threatened to write you about the matter. I personally
feel that the pool offers a festive, recreational environ-
ment where music is appropriate. Quite, undisturbed reading
is to be found in public libraries, not public pools.
Since, oftentimes we don't take the time to compliment the
people that arcdoing a job we appreciate, I hope you realize
that I speak for many of the pool patrons. We cl.Q thank you
for your management by returning day after day.
Sincerely,
Jennifer C. Davis
