FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Art of Edina to be Showcased at Braemar Arena
Edina, Minn., Feb. 4, 2016 – Braemar Arena will soon be home to a rotating art gallery organized by
Art of Edina, an initiative founded by Tradition Companies with the aim of giving novice, rising and
established Edina artists a public space to display their art and photography.
Art of Edina collects and curates photos, paintings and drawings that have been created by Edina residents.
That art is then hung in installments throughout the city. The Braemar Arena installment will highlight Edina
parks with artwork focusing on ice skating, hockey, tennis, baseball, basketball, picnics, swimming or
playgrounds.
“We are excited to have Art of Edina at Braemar Arena,” said Braemar Arena & Field General Manager
Susie Miller. “Not only will it add to the appeal of the lobby, but it will also show a great partnership
between community art and athletics.”
The installment will open at the end of February and will feature about 30 different pieces of artwork.
Galleries at Southdale Center and the Galleria will run concurrently with the Braemar Arena gallery.
“We take community art and put it into community locations. We have three locations that have agreed to
participate and many more in the works,” explained Art of Edina Director Jill Emmer. “Each gallery goes up
for about three months and each gallery comes from a different art source.”
The Galleria will be sourced from Emmer and collaborators. Southdale Center will be sourced from the
Concord Elementary Art Fair and Braemar Arena will be sourced directly from the community.
Emmer encourages residents to continue to submit photography and artwork throughout the year. New
submissions may be used at upcoming galleries, including new galleries at Braemar Arena or the Edina Art
Center. Submissions can be sent through Instagram using the hashtag #ArtofEdina. Photos, scans or digital
copies of artwork can also be sent to art@ArtOfEdina.com.
