Edina Police Department Seeks New Reserve Officers
Edina, Minn., Feb. 19, 2016 – The Edina Police Department is accepting applications for Reserve Officers
through Friday, March 18.
The Edina Police Reserves are a team of volunteer officers who donate their time and effort to the City and
the community in a variety of roles to assist the Police Department.
“The EPD is excited to open this process to those who want to give back to their community and learn more
about this profession,” said Officer Keith Boerger. “We will invest a lot of time and resources to train and
equip our new Reserve Officers so that they can do great work. We sincerely appreciate the time our
Reserve Officers commit and the sacrifices they make for this program.”
The primary purpose of the Reserves is to assist the department whenever needed for any number of reasons
– day or night. This can include responding to severe weather, serious car accidents, fire scenes, lost or
missing people, crime scenes, power outages or special details as needed by the Police Department.
Aside from patrolling one or two Friday or Saturday nights per month and attending monthly training
meetings, Reserve Officers are needed at events such as the Race for the Cure, Edina Art Fair, Night to Unite,
and the 4th of July Parade.
Preferred applicants will be interviewed. All Reserve Officers are required to attend the Hennepin County
Sheriff's Police Reserve School for 10 weeks and must commit to a minimum of 10 hours per month. For
more information on the requirements and qualifications needed to be a Reserve Officer or to apply, visit
