City Calls for Summer Volunteers
Edina, Minn., April 8, 2016 – The City of Edina seeks summer volunteers to support various City
departments.
“Volunteering for a city is the greatest way a resident can give back to his or her community,” said Project
Coordinator MJ Lamon. “Volunteers can enhance the services and programs the City has to offer. The
Volunteer Edina program hopes to engage residents and others interested in helping out while expanding the
volunteer opportunities within the City.”
The biggest need for volunteers falls under the Parks & Recreation Department. The City needs volunteers to
support programming at City parks and facilities including Braemar Arena, Edinborough Park and Braemar
Golf Course.
“Volunteering offers individuals a chance to meet and develop relationships with people you might not
necessarily have the opportunity to know, all while gaining valuable life experience,” said Alex Christianson, a
resident who volunteers to help with the coordination of the DREAM Adaptive Skating Program.
Volunteers will learn more about local government and what it has to offer. The City offers one-time, ongoing
or project-based volunteer opportunities in order to accommodate any contribution.
