FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Edina To Plant Trees in Honor of Arbor Day
Edina, Minn., April 12, 2016 – On Friday, April 29, the City of Edina will celebrate Arbor Day. To
commemorate this important date, the City of Edina’s “tree crew” will plant several trees in Normandale
Park, 6501 Warren Ave., Edina.
The public is invited to attend the 10 a.m. planting to observe or assist with the plantings. City Forester
Luther Overholt will be on site to lead the planting and will be available to answer any questions. Overholt
plans on planting four Crab Apple trees.
“The Arbor Day planting is a great opportunity for the community and a great way for people to learn how to
plant and care for new trees,” said Overholt.
Tree planting and proper care of existing trees are important for the environment. Aesthetically and
functionally, the benefit list is long. Overholt encourages the community to plant trees whenever possible, not
just on Arbor Day.
In the event of inclement weather, the Arbor Day plantings will be rescheduled.
