EDINA CITY COUNCIL
HELD AT CITY HALL
OCTOBER 3, 2017
5:31 P.M.
Mayor Pro Tem Brindle called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Answering roll call were Members Brindle, Fischer, Staunton, Stewart, and Mayor Hovland.
Edina City Staff attending the meeting: Jennifer Bennerotte; Communications & Technology Services Director;
Emily Bodeker, Assistant City Planner;Jeff Brown, Community Health Administrator; Michael Frey, Art Center
General Manager; Ann Kattreh, Parks & Recreation Director; MJ Lamon, Project Coordinator; Debra Mangen,
City Clerk; Chante Mitchell, City Management Fellow; Chad Millner, Engineering Director; Scott Neal, City
Manager, Lisa Schaefer, Assistant City Manager; and Cary Teague, Community Development Director.
BOARDS'& COMMISSIONS'ANNUAL WORK PLAN MEETING
The following Board and Commission chairs reviewed their Commission's 2018 Work Plans: Britta Orr, Edina
Community Health Commission; Richard Mansur, Energy and Environment Commission, Jim, Nelson, Human
Rights and Relations Commission; Michael Birdman, Heritage Preservation Commission; Brenda McCormick,
Parks and Recreation Commission; JoAnn Olsen, Planning Commission; and Tom LaForce, Transportation
Commission.
JOINT MEETING WITH ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION
Attending the meeting were: Chair Ann Miller, and Commissioners: Susan Chandler, Douglas Hegley, Russell
Rubin, Steven Suckow, and Student Commissioners;Jane Howe and Brooke Sheehy. Ann Miller reviewed the
2018 proposed work plan and the 2017 work plan was distributed in paper form. Discussion took place
regarding a new art center, its components and possible location. One consideration would be in the Grandview
Green area.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Hovland adjourned the meeting at 6:57 p.m.
