City, Edina Magazine Honor Photo Contest Winners
Edina, Minn., Aug. 24, 2016 – The City of Edina and co-sponsor Edina Magazine recognized winners of the
2016 Images of Edina Photo Contest at the Aug. 16 City Council Meeting.
A panel of judges made up of Edina Magazine and City staff chose the winners.
“It was very difficult for the judges to decide on the winners. There were so many great choices this year,”
said City of Edina Graphic Designer Katie Laux, who helped pick the winners. “We think this year’s winning
photos really depict life in Edina.”
Photos entered were taken between June 2015 and July 2016 and were entered into one of five categories.
Edina Magazine readers voted online in July to choose the “Readers’ Choice” award. One overall “Best In
Show” winner was chosen of the category winners. The winners of the 2016 contest are:
People & Community and Best in Show – “Hangin’ Around” by Bryan Singer
Business – “Edina” by Bryan Singer
Education – “First Day of School” by Andrea Bryant
Places – “Holiday Tree Lighting” by Sarah Pettit
Plants & Animals/Nature – “Baltimore Orioles on Lake Edina” by William Webb
Readers’ Choice – “Baby’s Backyard Friend” by Jan Johnson
The contest is free to enter and is open to both amateur and professional photographers who reside, work or
attend school in Edina. The 2017 contest will open for entries again in Spring 2017.
