Explorers Post No. 925 Recruits New Participants
Edina, Minn., Sept. 1, 2016 — Edina/Eden Prairie Explorers Post No. 925 will hold an informational
meeting for potential new participants at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the South Metro Public Safety
Training Facility, 7525 Braemar Blvd.
“Police Explorers is a great program, especially if you’re interested in law enforcement in the future,” said
Officer Nicole Frederick, who serves as one of the group’s advisors. “Some members of our program don’t
want to be a police officer and that’s OK. The Explorer program will help better your skills with dealing with
others and building yourself to get ready for college.”
Explorers Post No. 925 meets every Tuesday night and participates in various conferences, including the
National Explorer Conference every-other year. In weekly meetings, participants learn more about all aspects
of law enforcement through hands-on experiences. Topics include crime scene processing, burglary response,
first aid, search and arrest, white collar crime, hostage negotiations, interview and interrogation and more.
“It’s a fun program to meet new people and learn life skills,” Frederick said. “Explorers are able to shoot at
the gun range, go on ride-a-longs and learn a lot about policing.”
Edina/Eden Prairie Post No. 925 is open to young men and women ages 14 through 21 with an interest in
learning more about a career in law enforcement. The youngest members must have completed eighth grade
before joining.
