Braemar Arena Participates in Eighth-Annual Used Equipment
Drive
Edina, Minn., Sept. 1, 2016 – Braemar Arena encourages everyone to donate their unwanted hockey
equipment to Let’s Play Hockey to give to children who cannot afford new equipment. The arena, 7501 Ikola
Way, is a local collection site for the donations.
“We partner with the Minnesota Wild and Berger Transfer and many others to provide used equipment to
young families who may have trouble affording new equipment,” said Bryan Zollman of Let’s Play Hockey.
Collection bins have been in place since late August. Other designated bins are located in Apple Valley Sports
Arena, Bloomington Ice Garden, Eagan Civic Arena and many more. This is the eighth-annual equipment drive.
Past drives have resulted in the collection of thousands of items given to families. All hockey items are
accepted for donation including sticks, skates and helmets. Goalie sticks and helmets are especially needed.
“We are excited to host the equipment drive here at Braemar Arena and Field. Last year, we had great
success, and Edina families were able to contribute and provide hockey equipment to underprivileged youth in
Minnesota,” said Roxann Maxey, Assistant Manager of Braemar Arena and Field.
The last days to donate are Sept. 26 and 27. The final collection bins will be removed then and taken to
Berger facilities to be sorted through and organized. From there, the equipment will be delivered to Xcel
Energy Center to be distributed to kids on Oct. 8.
