FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
‘Final Fore’ Golf Outing to Take Place Oct. 3
Edina, Minn., Sept. 8, 2016 – Braemar Golf Course is changing course soon. The last chance to play the
original Braemar will be Oct. 3. Construction will begin on Oct. 4, with the goal of updating its key features
and making the course more appealing to golfers of all ages and abilities.
The Final Fore outing has spots for over 100 golfers. There will be an 18-hole outing beginning with a noon
shotgun start that will be played on Castle and Hays courses. There will also be a 9-hole outing with a
shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. that will be played on the Clunie course.
“It is going to be the last chance to play the old Braemar Golf Course. I think there is a lot of attachment to it
and I think everybody will want to get out there one last time,” said Joe Abood, General Manager of Braemar
Golf Course.
After the events, there will be an auction that will include all the old tee signs from the golf course. Golfers
will have the chance to bid on their favorite hole tee signs and take home a piece of Braemar history.
“All the proceeds from the events will be donated to the Braemar Memorial Fund,” said Abood.
The Braemar Memorial Fund is used to pay for to improvements at the Braemar Golf facilities.
Golfers can register online or in person at the golf course. The 18-hole outing is priced at $99, and the 9-hole
outing costs $65. Players may sign up in teams of four, three, two or one. Less than four players will be
paired with other golfers.
The planning of the new course has been a thorough and careful process with special input from the people
who know the property best.
“Input was received from golfers, from the City of Edina, and our general public and it’s basically set up to be
a good golf course for players of all ages and abilities. You’ll be able to play different tees that are going to
challenge a good golfer but also be an easy enough golf course so that it won’t discourage beginners playing
from the appropriate tees,” said Abood.
