Edina, Minn., Oct. 4, 2016 – The City of Edina has been nominated for three regional Emmys by the Upper
Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The 2016 Emmy nominees were
announced Friday, Sept. 30.
The City of Edina received a nomination for “Beyond the Badge” in the “Politics/Government – Program”
category. “Beyond the Badge” is a program about the inner-workings of the Edina Police and Fire-Rescue &
Inspections department. It is hosted by Police Sgt. Brian Hubbard, Police Sgt. Aaron White and Fire Captain
Ryan Quinn. Other nominees in the category are “Almanac at the Capitol” (Twin Cities PBS), “At Issue” (KSTP-
TV), “KCCI 8 News Close Up: Hillary Clinton One-on-One” (KCCI-TV), “Our Issues – Syrian Refugees (WUCW-TV)
and “Road to the Caucus” (KTIV-TV).
The City received two nominations in the “Interstitial” category – one for “Public Art Profiles” and another for
“On The Job.” “On the Job” is a new program hosted by City Manager Scott Neal, who interviews City
employees about their work. “Public Art Profiles” feature the artists whose work is on display in Edina’s public

All City of Edina programming can also be viewed online.
Entries made to the Upper Midwest Chapter were judged by panels assembled by other National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences Chapters. These judging panels are comprised of no fewer than five judges with
no more than three of the judges employed by the same station or company. There may be one award, more
than one award or no award given in each category.
The Communications & Technology Services Department has been nominated for at least two Emmy Awards
each year since 2009, but has brought home the gold statuette twice.
The Emmy Awards will be presented Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Radisson Blu in Bloomington.
