Edina Police Department Swears In Two Officers
Edina, Minn., Oct. 27, 2016 – Officers Paul Hooper and Darren Davis, Jr. were sworn into the Edina Police
Department Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, surrounded by friends and family.
Prior to coming to Edina, Davis, Jr. was a probation officer for Dodge, Fillmore, Olmstead (DFO) Counties.
He was also a corrections officer for a short time with DFO. Davis holds bachelor’s degree from Winona
State.
Hooper has been a Minnesota police officer for more than 10 years. He was in Mound for seven years and
Orono for three. He graduated from Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Hooper said he looked
forward to the “great opportunity for career development” within the Edina Police Department.
“The Edina Police Department has picked these two people, whom we believe will fit into the culture of our
department. We were looking for people who have a high level of integrity with a strong desire to perform
quality work, people who are genuinely concerned about providing the best customer service to our
residents, and, lastly, people who will fit into our family we call the Edina Police Department,” said Police
Chief Dave Nelson.
Davis was pinned with badge No. 159 by his father, Darren Davis, Sr. and wife, Kendra. Davis’ parents
travelled from Illinois to be at the ceremony. Hooper was pinned with badge No. 158 by his wife, Angela. His
family came from Minnetonka to watch the ceremony.
“I look forward to having the opportunity to influence and promote a directed effort to restore the trust in
law enforcement as a whole,” said Davis, Jr.
